A retired three-star is given a gun and he says "maybe I'll find someone in Washington DC."
Every retired flag and general officer, regardless of political belief or party, should be speaking up - loudly and unequivocally - that this is an insane betrayal of the Constitution.

(1,952 posts)I not only want him arrested but court-martialed and found guilty of treason.
Then I want him stripped of his rank, privileges and benefits before being jailed.

Giannis was pretty much impossible to stop. He either drove for points or was fouled. His dominance reminded me of Shaq in his prime.

(21,560 posts)It is more than time for the military to do this. It has been mentioned many times that any retired officer can be brought back for court martial. Just because drumpf pardoned him for his Federal crimes does not mean the military, which has its own disciplinary processes, cannot still punish him. For the honor of the military, those that betray their country should be rooted out and dealt with.

(1,952 posts)since Lt. Gen. Flynn is a retiree, he can recalled to active duty.
Doesn't that mean that his seditious conduct can be judged by the military? I say a general court-martial oncharges of sedition should be convened. Not to mention conduct unbecoming of an officer.

(54,770 posts)nowadays. Or, do you think our best joined the military to bomb innocent Muslims?

Mind you, I'm not calling you stupid, far from it, just the stupidity of your post.

(12,363 posts)but they were far and few in between.
Look, I've read your posts, I've enjoyed them and for the most part, agreed with you, but on this issue, i believe you're 100% wrong.
Tell me something, what did you think when Gen. Milley came out against Trump and said that the US Military had no role in the election?
Or when it was made clear that the US Military would not get involved in civilian law enforcement?
I'll bet you cheered him for standing up to the Mango Menace.
Anyways, I'll bet we agree on more than we disagree on, but on this, we are in disagreement, and that's fine, but don't say you don't trust the military because of some asshole RWer's who happen to be in the Armed Forces.

(54,770 posts)Constitution and country should have voted 95% to oust trump.
"Trumps support among veterans declined noticeably this year, from 60 percent in 2016 to 51 percent in 2020, according to the NBC News Exit Poll of early and election day voters."

Likely you and some other DUers were different; but fact remains, I don't trust the military when it comes to white wingers, racists, militia groups, etc.

(12,363 posts)I'm sorry you feel that way, but it's great that we can have different opinions.

(90,645 posts)Im a civilian, and come from a family that doesnt glorify or fetishize the military though the men have served when called. Growing up, there were a lot of military brats in my school, and the houses on either side of ours were rented to military families.
During the BushCheney administration I found myself volunteering against the war alongside the Veterans for Peace, and a finer bunch of people Ive never met.
People like Gen Flynn are disgusting but we have many more examples of good men and women who have served and are serving: Senators Duckworth and Inouye, Generals Milley, McCaffrey, Honore, Wesley Clarke, and others I cant call to mind at the moment
You are wrong when you tar them all with the same brush.

(54,770 posts)suspect half of military thinks Eddie Gallagher is a hero. Sorry, not cool with that.
Look, I know there are good people in military or in the 8% of the population that are veterans. Most WWII vets, Korea to some degree, Vietnam particularly drafted or joined to avoid draft, and those who see it as a step to a better life.
But, there are a lot of hateful people. Ive stood in draft and enlistment physical lines and more. There were lots of people who were bent on killing Asians, to be honest.
To be clear, the vets and active military here are likely in the other 40% or so.

And the Court of Appeals dismissed all charges against him.
As you know... the legal definition of a "CONVICTION" occurs at the time of sentencing.
