An Atlanta, Georgia restaurant owner decided only to serve fully vaccinated customers.
The restaurant announced the rule on Instagram earlier this week, showing a "No Vax, No Service" sign that aims to reduce the spread of the virus inside the establishment.
Armando Celentano, a co-owner of Argosy Restaurant and Bar told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution the decision came after he and three of his employees tested positive for the virus even though they are all fully vaccinated, marking an instance of breakthrough infections.
"It is a question of quality of life and safety for my staff and guests," Celentano told the outlet. "It's a privately owned, small business and I have to do what I think is right to protect the people who rely on me to make a living."
Approximately 38% of people in Georgia are fully vaccinated, according to data from the New York Times. As the more contagious Delta variant spreads throughout the US, vaccinated people are not 100% immune and could still become infected with COVID-19.

(20,591 posts)Vaccine "passport"? There's already so many phony CDC vaccine cards circulating you'd never be able to tell for certain.
He certainly doesn't have access to government records to check.
Once again, we're at the mercy of the "honor system", and as we all know, there is no honor among thieves or republicans. I know, they're one in the same.

(20,591 posts)but I am a realist. It's very admirable to say you're not serving those who haven't been vaccinated, but with no method to check it, that all rings hollow. It means nothing. Its an empty promise to those who believe they're safe eating in his restaurant.
You can criticize me all you want, but when I make a promise to someone I make sure I can back that promise up. He can't.

(6,309 posts).... sports and entertainment venue, museums etc should adopt this rule. Let people know that sure, they can refuse the vaccination and endanger their own health but they don't have the right to endanger others.

(12,975 posts)Al's Breakfast in Minneapolis has reopened to dine-in service for the first time since the pandemic shut down operations at the restaurant in March of last year.
The Dinkytown restaurant officially reopened on Friday after a soft opening earlier this week, according to their Facebook page.
"We're too small to share space with unvaccinated people. Get the shot!" the business's latest post reads.
The restaurant is a campus go-to and has operated under its current name since the 1960s.
(Dinkytown is the area around the University of Minnesota's Minneapolis campus, in other words, full of Bolsheviks and rootless cosmopolitans

(1,617 posts)Highly unlikely that someone who was vaccinated actually got COVID and almost certainly it wouldn't manifest symptomatically. Owner may have just been testing too aggressively.
Send the employees to their doctor to check for the real underlying conditions.
And with respect to testing, PCR is on the way out. EUA scheduled to be revoked. Word on the street though is that Buffet and Gates already have a dramatically superior product lined up with Mologic which I'm sure we'll be hearing more about, and knowing their history of generosity with health services it'll be readily available.
