I did, so I can only bitch so much about the guys with the huge trucks. Mines a 1500 with no lift kit. I'm in Idaho where we have as high a percentage of those as anywhere. Probably the same with all other recreational machines.

Those people that plan all their fun around playing out in the woods and burning tanks of cheap gas have to be wondering what' gonna happen now? Nobody's doing any of that out here now because of the fires. A lot of peoples fun has been ruined by fires for a few years now, but this is by far the worst. I wonder how long they will keep telling themselves things will go back to normal?

I used to take vacation time every year about the middle of August for guaranteed great weather. A lot of time I went on float trips on the Salmon river or Hell's canyon. No way I'd do that now. It kind of ruined it for me. I like going when all I need are my summer shorts, tanks and a rain coat. Going in June most years, it can still get cold even at relatively low elevation like that.

You might see some great deals on cabins in the woods coming up.

6. I find weight a more relevant comparison. F-150: 5,000 lbs. Sherman tank: 84,000 lbs.

These numbers are at the end of the article, of course, as they don’t feed into the “Woah. Today’s trucks are like tanks!” narrative.

To wriggle out of the half-open doors of my old Hyundai in a Standards Compliant carpark, the only narrative I buy into is size.

This is the sort of nonsensical straw-man that right-wingers propagate to undermine legitimate criticisms of overconsumption.

Don't fall for or propagate stuff like this which has obvious built-in counter-arguments.

Lemme pick two adjacent items from the graphic... A T-34 weighed twenty-something tons. A Dodge Ram 1500 weighs two-point-something tons. A TEN-FOLD difference with, at least as implied by the graphic, similar volumes. GTFOH with this nonsense.

-------------

Let me be clear: American cars and trucks are often bigger than they need to be and wasteful and dangerous as a result. But bad arguments are harmful to the effort of fixing that.

For the trouble taken in formulating composing and posting your very helpful message.

I believe it was a captured soviet tank that provided the carbon monoxide to the gas chambers of Treblinka. Oh, damn, off topic again. I must stop this silliness.

Is a fuel sipper, esp in 2 WD. Low 20's with V8. Also slimmer than it's competition, and Ford's Super Duty line.
