They live in an echo chamber and receive information that concurs with their preconceived notions. Right wing media provides them a distorted and false view of the world.

There were always liberals and conservatives and we have always disagreed for the most part. The difference before the advent of coordinated right wing media is that we had to operate from the same base of facts and information. We argued about what it meant and what needed to be done.

Now, right wingers don't even get the information. They operate on false assumptions made from false information. They have their own set of "facts" which are lies and propaganda. AND... they believe that everything else, like 90% of media that still operate from the same actual set of facts, that 90% or more of media...is ACTUALLY what is false and only they have access to the "truth".

There are certainly some die-hard fans of the former guy making very outspoken defenses of the indefensible. They seem unaware (or unwilling to acknowledge) that there are video recordings of the events of the day. These people are lost causes from what I can tell. However, I get the sense that some of the insurrection defenders don't really have their hearts in it, and they may be persuadable in the face of the evidence and the testimony. And if not persuadable, at least they'll shut up in public.
