https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/gop-rep-eyes-plan-kick-cheney-kinzinger-out-party-n1275194Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), chair of the right-wing House Freedom Caucus, reportedly told his GOP colleagues during a conference meeting this morning that he's introducing a new resolution targeting Cheney and Kinzinger. As Politico reported, Biggs' proposal "would institute a rules change that would expel any member of the GOP conference if a House Republican accepted a committee assignment from Democrats."

Liz & Adam Kinzinger showed integrity & stuck to their principles. I hope they will become Dem-leaning independents!

(2,114 posts)This will hurt them big. Honest people see how devoted to lies the republicans have become, and are disgusted with them.
Who is it that is called the Father of Lies ? The Bible has so many condemnatory things to say about lying. The Republicans really ought to read it some time.

(7,849 posts)they could go Independent and caucus with the Dems...that would give us a somewhat bigger majority...they don't have to vote with us all of the time but on the "biggies" like the infrastructure bill, voting rights I'd gladly take their "Aye" vote

(18,402 posts)I was responding to the posters query (itself somewhat sarcastic) about the inconsistency of republicans threatening to oust two of their own members for serving on a bipartisan committee even as they excoriate Biden on failure to be bipartisan. Are we surprised at their hypocrisy?
My reply is a version of famous statement by Ralph Waldo Emerson:
A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines.
A hobgoblin is a mischievous spirit. I was offering up this bromide as a hypothetical Republican defense of their inconsistent viewpoint on bipartisanship. Hence the sarcasm emoji. They are both inconsistent and have little minds. It can happen.

(65,010 posts)Expelling them doesn't change that they're duly elected officials.
This seems to increase the odds they'd vote WITH democrats.
Of course, Biggs doesn't think things through. He's incapable of that.

(13,040 posts)GOP have become they are not. If they do this to themselves there will either be a new conservative party created or there w be a Independents. Either way the GOP is self-destructing. This does not look good for them.

(13,421 posts)I am LMAO at the entire PR mess the GOP finds itelf in--in spite of how high the stakes are--but I have to say it's entirely a GOP thing. Seems like every day the water they are swimming in gets deeper. I keep coming back to the Lincoln Project attitude of "Fuck around and find out."
Neither of the two will ever be a Dem or even left leaning. What they do offer potential for, however, is a path back to sanity for the GOP membership that wants a return to the days of to a (mostly) sane party. While I disagree wtih them both on any number of isues, i do feel they are trying to do the right thing here.

She is a right winger, like the old right wingers. She, however, believes in America and isn't a fascist like the drumpf led repugs these days. She's an anachronism.

(2,528 posts)Cheney voted more often for TFG than her replacement did. Kinzinger is a saner version of republicans - and is likely the smooth talking fascist we've been worried about for months.
Yes, it's great they are taking this stand, but it's their long game that is troubling me.

(10,051 posts)I disagree with her politics at every turn but I support her right to have her positions, just hoping they do not get implemented. The dems must go hard at all the republican congressional sheep that are supporting their leadership instead of doing what is right. They have no place in the congressional halls voting on any legislation, if they cannot even think for themselves.
