The Women's March endorsed progressive House candidate Nina Turner on Tuesday ahead of the Democratic primary in Ohio's 11th Congressional District, marking the group's first-ever electoral endorsement.
The Hill was the first outlet to report on the endorsement, which was released through the group's new super PAC, Womens March Win.
"Nina is just a phenomenal candidate," Women's March Executive Director Rachel O'Leary Carmona told The Hill in an interview, citing her support of progressive policies like Medicare for All and a $15 minimum wage.
"We have been disappointed at the way that Democratic initiatives have been slowed down or stopped and we're looking for people who are going to charge ahead and get the work done. Get it done for women," she continued.

For one day it was a good thing and then the GRIFTERS arrived and took it over.
Do you know Linda Sarsour?

(64,543 posts)Linda Sarsour (born 1980)[1] is an American political activist. She was co-chair of the 2017 Women's March, the 2017 Day Without a Woman, and the 2019 Women's March. She is also a former executive director of the Arab American Association of New York. She and her Women's March co-chairs were profiled in Time magazine's "100 Most Influential People" in 2017.
A Muslim of Palestinian descent, Sarsour first gained attention for protesting police surveillance of American Muslims, later becoming involved in other civil rights issues such as police brutality, feminism, immigration policy, and mass incarceration. She has also organized Black Lives Matter demonstrations and was the lead plaintiff in a suit challenging the legality of the Trump travel ban.
Her political activism has been praised by some liberals and progressives, while her stance and remarks on the IsraeliPalestinian conflict have been criticized by some conservatives and Jewish leaders and organizations. Sarsour has advocated for Palestinians in the Israeli-occupied territories and expressed criticism of Zionism and support for the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel. Sarsour, Bob Bland, and Tamika Mallory stepped down from the Women's March organization in September 2019 following a controversy over the organization's handling of accusations of antisemitism.[2]

Following the shooting of Michael Brown, Sarsour helped to organize Black Lives Matter protests. Sarsour helped form "Muslims for Ferguson", and she traveled to Ferguson with other activists in 2014.[6][14] She has continued to work extensively with BLM ever since.[5][15] Sarsour became a regular attendee at Black Lives Matter demonstrations as well as a frequent television commentator on feminism.[7]

(44,045 posts)There is a big difference between supporting policies and actually getting things done. The person she called "half a bowl of shit" is actually implementing progressive change, while she is out there tearing things down and throwing bombs.

(37,748 posts)Her tenure as OH senate minority whip was an abject failure, her 2012 stunt to overturn legislation attempting to restrict women's access to contraception and abortion was just that-- a stunt, and failed as well in her efforts when she led unsuccessful efforts to change Ohio's rape custody law.
Seems to me, she's running only to settle scores with the Democratic National Committee dating back from 2016

(7,273 posts)Shontel's resume is just a tad on the light side, wouldn't you say? She's on the county council and head of the county Dem party. Does that make her ready for the House of Representatives? Maybe, but her opponent has about 10 years' more experience, some on a statewide level. I would call Nina experienced; I wouldn't use that descriptor for Shontel.
As to principled. Shontel has voted to award millions of dollars in county contracts to her boyfriend's company. She said she would recuse herself and didn't. That's two big marks against her in my book.
I've heard people at DU criticizing Nina's use of a pac but none about Shontel's support from DMFI (Democratic Majority for Israel). Just based on my own viewing, it's obvious to me that DMFI and its many repuke donors are outspending Nina about 5-1. Something to keep in mind as we disparage Nina about pac support.

(71,519 posts)not a Democrat...so who knows what will happen I will vote for anyone who is not a GOP in this case that would be Nina...but I have a great deal of hope that she will not win the primary. Shontel is a better candidate and she is a Democrat.

(28,889 posts)politicians to the march was because they wanted mostly grassroots voices but scheduled Bernie Sanders as a keynote speaker. Oops! Stuff hit the fan.
