CLAYTON — The St. Louis County Council moved to end the county’s new mask mandate Tuesday, throwing the order into legal limbo.

After hearing dozens of people rail against the mandate and County Executive Sam Page, council members voted 5-2 to end the order and rebuke Page for failing to consult them before issuing it, which they say was required under a new state law.

Page dismissed the vote as meaningless and continued to tout the mandate’s benefits in remarks after the vote.

“We as elected officials cannot stand by and let the delta variant rack up more and more victims each and every day,” he said. “Masks will help slow the spread of the virus while we continue to vaccinate as many people as we can.”

Whether those masks will be mandatory is likely now a question for the courts. Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, a Republican, has filed suit challenging the order. In the meantime, county residents will have to choose which of their leaders they want to believe as the highly infectious delta variant continues to spread.

2. Idiots. I live in the city of STLMO, thank god we have the mask mandate here in full force.

These morons are going to find out the hard way that personal choices do not matter when it's a virus selecting its next series of victims and doesn't care if someone a democrat or a republican or an independent. By their actions, they are condemning possibly many others to sickness and death by not contributing their part to stopping this virus in its tracks.

By the way, a good friend of ours (my SO and me) has said that he expects another shut down in the city of STLMO due to the Delta version of the Covid 19 virus, in Sept.

So, be ready again, for everything to be shut down again, restrictions on movement etc. to be invoked again. One might want to ensure that their major shopping is done, as well as other errands/things that need to be done.

I don't know what details prompted my judge friend to say this, but perhaps he is privy to matters in the city STLMO...

3. I Rode The Metro From IL To The Zoo Yesterday

They were enforcing the mask mandate - security was actually handing out masks. At the zoo almost everyone was wearing masks outside, although they're only required in buildings.

4. Thank god for small miracles, eh? I'm glad to hear this. I see masks being used too, quite

a bit, and I'm planning on going to the grocery store (Schnucks) to wrap up my major shopping for the month as I usually do, and like most times I've been, it's been a pleasure to see almost all wearing masks. A true sign that everyone does indeed care about everyone else.

These idiots believe conspiracy theories that government is controlling them if requiring masks. Hell, the government has already assigned each of us our own number. They suck money from our pay before we see it, force us to pay federal, state and local taxes, and tell us what women can do reproductively. But they get all deranged if the government tells us not to spit on each other for the common good?
