WTF is wrong with Erin Burnett, ranting about Biden's administration handling of the

Vaccinations, and showing pictures Lauren Boebert and McCarthy bitching about mixed messaging about masking, ignoring that things change because more data is gathered, then goes off about why are they not giving a third booster shot, and at the same time complaining why isn't Biden mandating vaccines, because some companies are

No doubt if Biden issued a vaccine mandate, these talking heads would complain about that

Then as if on a dime she switches about Florida and how desantis is pushing the lie that there is no science behind masks

Fortunately, the person covering that part of the story, made it clear that masks are useful

and now after ranting about the Biden administration, Burnett changes her tone about masks, and how they are useful

It seems to me that the mixed messaging and confusion comes a lot from the hyperbolic media, who half the time don't present the full details of the story they are covering, or they go off in one direction, then go off into another direction

No wonder I don't watch much cable/satellite news

She plays tapes of Boebert, McCarthy, and DeSantis to show how foolish they are.

CNN's position is clear. Wear masks. Get vaccinated.

Other than constant tired-eye blinks, I rather like her as a news anchor.

are confusing everyone?

mask, don't mask if you are vaccinated, mask if you are vaccinated, etc., without presenting that things change as we learn more about the delta variant.

Did you hear the part where she was saying Pfizer has a a booster for the delta variant, and questioning why Biden isn't pushing that, or why Biden is doing vaccine mandates like some companies are doing

In my view it was hyperbolic nonesense

I think there is a lot of ambiguity coming from the white house and the CDC.

From what I can tell, it's time for us to get booster shots!

people need to wear masks?

Because data observed from the delta virus with breakthrough infections on vaccinated people, while mostly preventing serious symptoms, these vaccinated people with the breakthrough infections can transmit the virus to unvaccinated people.

I guess that Dr. Burnett didn't find it useful to report that after six months the Pfizer vaccine is still 84% effective:

https://www.statnews.com/2021/07/28/efficacy-of-pfizer-biontech-covid-vaccine-slips-to-84-after-six-months-data-show/

or that Pfizer has a specific booster for the Delta variant, that is going through testing right now, but that can't be released until the testing is finished, and then gets EUA

They are leaving important details out

Dr. Rhiener(sp) provided a little context for the short time he was on, but not enough

Changed masking guidelines.

They fucked up. They must do better and start worrying about the people doing the right thing and stop coddling and worrying about the assholes and their opinions. Because what is good for us is also good for the assholes.

Perhaps you need that explained?

This was about Erin speaking of the ambiguities put out by the CDC and white house. They should have stressed that the vaxxed need masks many weeks ago. They are behind the curve.

It is you who wants Erin to be Dr. Burnett.

I, for one, do not believe that stat of 84% is even useful. That stat refers to cases that cause disease -- not absolute number of cases, in which the virus can continue to be transmitted.

There are too many cases of breakthrough.

advantage of short prime time covid informational talks. Brag about states with high vaccination rates. It might help create some competition? Get out there and don't try to sugar coat it.

This is a new virus in essence. So I don't understand why we have to act like whatever we said about the original COVID-19 should be held sacrosanct for every subsequent variant. Just explain that to people. And this is all constructive criticism. IMHO, we're back in a life or death situation that should be devoid of politics. End rant

by the messaging.

Instead of explaining why masking guidelines were changed on vaccinated people by the CDC, it was just an opportunity for her to complain about the change, not explain it.

It was because data observed from the delta virus with breakthrough infections on vaccinated people, while mostly preventing serious symptoms, these vaccinated people with the breakthrough infections can transmit the virus to unvaccinated people.

That was not mentioned at all, unless I missed it

That is what I mean by not much useful information was conveyed

????

To me it's the government's role. The head of our government's role to get those scientists out there and have them speak in truth and succinctness. On a scheduled and routine basis. With the fucking truth. I really don't have any understanding about why CDC is so far behind the curve. I know that they are all respected and seasoned epidemiologists. But there is no other explanation in my mind other than they are tainted by politics. I am sure this is not a common belief here. What else is new. It's just that my logical side tells me something's amiss. I would love to hear any other ideas from DU.
