Q2 US GDP grows 6.5%

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/q2-2021-us-gross-domestic-product-economic-activity-163209383.html

Now this is great growth, highest growth for a quarter in decades, but it missed expectations that were 8%+, so look for pundits to pretend this is a negative. The economy is coming back strong from the Trump recession of 2020.

Still on track for 6%+ growth in 2021 which would be the best since 1984. Now 8.4% as expected would have been great, but this more steady growth could be better long term and lead to a longer period of elevated growth for the economy. Slow and steady wins the race, the economy will get back to what it was and then some, this more steady growth just pushes some growth out into the 2022 election year.

or compared to 2020 Q2?

Just because GDP is more than a depressed quarter doesn't mean much.

It's measured vs the previous quarter's size of the economy.

And the best news is this, the economy has returned to the size it was pre-pandemic. It's as if the pandemic didn't happen save for the 2% growth we were averaging that we missed out on, but that will be made up for in Qs 3 and 4 this year. So from an economy size perspective, by the end of the year, it will be like the pandemic never happened.

Joe built it back in 6 months, now he'll make it better.
