Latest tally - LA at severest risk (brown), but 19 states now slid into the red (high risk) - including CT, MA and RI.
No states yellow or green. Shame on us.

(50,255 posts)I'll be watching Vermont (where I do most of my business despite living in New Hampshire). At the moment it's still the safest place in the country. BUT . . . it's a big tourist destination, especially a couple of months from now when the leaves change color. I've started wearing my mask again just in case.

(14,624 posts)It's frightening. I had to go to a hospital in Kenner for a medical procedure a few days ago and while on the way, I stopped to pick up a few things in one of the retail hubs. Almost no masks. Thank dog I was wearing my N95 and goggles.
At least everyone at the Ochsner facility was masked. They don't put up with the maskholes in the hospitals.

(102,203 posts)cracking down on vaccination for all their HCWs and employees. CO hospitals largely are, but colleagues have confirmed to me that Atlanta's famous Emory hospitals have not! Nor are they cracking down on number of visitors any longer and their ER waiting areas in some of their hospitals are stacked floor to ceiling with the waiting (unvaccinated COVID-19 probables) with insufficient staff to ensure they are all masking. I am so livid.

(14,624 posts)but he has to put up with a repube-led legislature.
I keep hearing that our governor, John Bel Edwards, is about to implement a state-wide mask mandate again. As soon as he does, the larger cities in Louisiana, which are mostly run by Democratic mayors, will follow suit.
I feel really sorry for red state folks who have repube governors. The dumb anti-maks laws they're trying to pass are fucking ridiculous.

(406 posts)And I agree with you. I am very pleased with JBE. At our neighborhood Walmart, about half of the customers and half of the staff are fully masked. Most of the rest of the staff have chin masks. I haven't let up on double masking. Got both Moderna shots and will gladly take a booster. Never been a fan on shots and never had the flu, but this isn't the flu and I don't want it.
On another note, some of the kids in the neighborhood regularly mask.
