New data suggests VACCINATED people could transmit delta variant

Not going to bother you with the link.

Just venting, i'm sorry

Between the RWNJ not getting vaxxed and even normal people getting the vaccine, it seems there is no end in site.

Some of the research – which the CDC is expected to make public today – may be related in part to an outbreak in Provincetown, Mass., where Fourth of July festivities have led to 882 cases as of Thursday. Nearly three-quarters of those people were fully vaccinated.

very frustrating.

There seems to be no end. I figured this shit would be over by now.

I just had to vent.

There has been an uptick in vaccinations. It will help, but meanwhile, mask up. It's not all that inconvenient.

Because it's obviously not accurate, at this point. Maybe it was with covid-19, but not with covid 21.

5 for every 100 in unvaccinated individuals is not rare. Uncommon - perhaps. But not rare. (95% effiency means that for every 100 unvaccinated individuals, 5 similarly situated vaccinated individuals will get sick).

With Delta, it is AT LEAST 12 for every 100 - AND because of the increased infectivity it takes a far shorter time to reach those 100 unvaccinated cases.

So it likely will end up much more than 12 per every 100.
So there will be plenty of vaccinated but infected people.

(at least the last time I checked they had not) So I trust it about as much as I trust the CDC's guidance without being able to review the data for myself.

In the summer, it is a densely settled vacation party town, and when the booze flows in the tightly squeezed bars (sorry, baahs), the masks come off. So does common sense, unfortunately.

A friend of mine who only got the creepy crud from his buddies, not COVID, made a point to go speak to the city administrators AGAINST their proposal to reinstitute masking - just after being completely shocked at the severity of "mild" COVID cases.

He was taken to task by many of our mutual friends, including some whom are nurse and at least shut up about it.

Like any other easily communicable disease, like flu, this is here to stay. There’s no magic bullet that will get rid of it. All we can do is mitigate the risk.

And I wish I had your optimism that this would have been “over by now”. Not with all the idiot flat-earthers walking around, blinded by their ignorant partisan hate and delusion they know more than scientists.

The virus is a quickly evolving predator, although medical experts say "mutating" in an apparent attempt to avoid offending evolution deniers. As its prey our only defense is our collective intelligence, which overall seems inadequate. The virus is winning the arms race.

By dropping the mask mandate with social distancing and then "reopening" offices and businesses. Those people at Cape Cod would have worn masks if the CDC hadn't told them vaccinated people were safe (what bs).

So now there's this walk back and it remains to be seen if it's a half measure or whole that needs to be done.

Vaccines are not a panacea; we'll need those masks, occupancy limits, remote learning and remote work for the foreseeable future.

Maybe the Biden admin should meet with various business organizations to work out some solutions. Many will need to adapt their business models to a more remote oriented world instead of shoehorning a perpetual 1950s style model of work and education into this 21st century world.

We're seriously stunting a whole generation of students. Whenever we do finally get past this COVID mess we're gonna need to deal with a whole crop of students who are a few years behind where they should be.

Kind of half-assed and in that passive-aggressive way when people do the right thing the wrong way so they can turn around and say that it failed and isn't viable.

Put the right amount of investment in and the right leadership in charge and this can get done.

Not that the option for on-site learning should go away for everyone. Just expand this option for parents who prefer it (with no qualifications).
