Louisiana man says he would choose another COVID hospitalization over vaccine

Even after a hospital stay from COVID-19, a Louisiana man told a reporter he still refuses to get the vaccine.

The CBS interview with Scott Roe, who was still plugged into machines as he recovered from pneumonia, went viral on Twitter this week. Roe said he still wasn't convinced the life-saving coronavirus vaccines were effective, and even in hindsight, would choose to be in the hospital over getting inoculated prior to his sickness.

"Here I am recovering, getting out of here finally tomorrow," Roe, a business owner and father, told CBS reporter David Begnaud, a native of Lafayette. "Am I going to get a vaccine? No."

He added that he was tired of government officials shoving the news down his throat. During the interview, Roe, a Republican, learned that U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise, R-Metairie, got the shot this week, as COVID-19 cases surge due to the more contagious delta variant making its way across the state.

He still refused.

"Don't shove it down my throat," Roe said. "That's what local, state and federal administrations are trying to do is shove it down your throat."

By worshipping trump who represents the KKK and ending the life of all he is afraid of, he takes this attitude.

These are dangerous, deadly people. If I see him on the street I move to the other side, he will try and kill me if he can if he knows I am not a racist like him.

If he's not going to get vaccinated to protect himself, why won't he get vaccinated to protect HIS LOVED ONES? No doubt he doesn't do wear a mask either.

Here is Ted Lieu's response:

In fact that seems to be his desire and I hope he fulfills it.

What bothers me is all the others he may infect and all the waste of time and resources to keep this idiot alive. If he refuses to help himself, why should society except to keep him from damaging others?

Lafayette is not a hick town. It's a college town and it has a very cool annual music festival that takes over pretty much the entire city.

FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL DE LOUISIANE is a very inclusive and diverse event with all kinds of art, music and food. It seems weird to me that so many stupid stories are coming out of Lafayette.

Monroe, Louisiana? Sure.

Shreveport? Of course.

But Lafayette? I don't get it. I'm not saying I don't believe it, but it seems weird. Where are the positive, national media stories from Lafayette?

I briefly moved there to work, but I couldn't tolerate the brown water coming out of the taps. Suuuuuuuure it's safe. Almost everyone I met (even outside of work) was from somewhere else.

I live in New Orleans but I have been to Monroe many times for work (I mean, why else would anyone go there, am i right?)

Now West Monroe is a different story. Holy shit! Those swamp-billies form Duck Dynasty are enough to keep me away!

I remember I was told they have a very high turnover rate, and that if I decide it's not for me that I tell them before I decide to leave. I thought there was no way it could be THAT bad. On top of everything else, it was really hard to find a decent place to live too. It was such a weird experience.

My step-father who is like a legit deplorable type got his pretty early on. My mom was very eager to get her first shot, but put off her second one because she did have a reaction (she has a reaction to everything). The reaction and her consumption of really bad "news" sources had her delay her second shot, but I think she has either recently got it or will be getting it soon.

I feel pretty certain that if Trump won in 2020 this guy wouldn't have any issue getting the vaccine, because Trump would have been out there pushing his "Trump vaccine".
