Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI just went to run a couple of errands and
while I was out I saw a sign saying free covid testing and only 2 cars were there, (you don't have to get out of your car) and so even though I got my moderna shots in April I got tested to be absolutely sure and while I was they pricked my finger and did an on the spot antibody test and it said I have the antibodies and they are working, the lady said I don't have covid either and I will get true result this evening in an e mail.
I will continue wearing a mask and washing hands and avoid crowds..

(44,973 posts)I had antibodies (from vaccination) and no covid. But the rapid antibody test had no information on how high the antibody levels were.

(1,910 posts)If you are vaccinated and wear a mask in public and your family is vaccinated....what would a Covid antibody test do for you either positive or negative?
Serious question, not sure what value there would be in it. Many vaccinated people will test positive, not really much to do about that.

(261 posts)My neighbor, who is immune compromised and fully vaccinated, didnt develop antibodies from the vaccine. Thats important info. Most people in this situation are probably getting that test from their doctors. But people without insurance or with large deductibles, would find this drive up testing cheaper.

(15,222 posts)From my limited understanding:
- the antibody test shows that your body has developed defenses against the virus - whether through infection or vaccines
- the PCR test actually looks for the presence of the COVID RNA, meaning that you probably have an active infection
- the antigen checks if parts of the COVID proteins are present.
The antibody is useful for large-scale surveillance (prevalence) but not is not very accurate
The PCR is the most accurate but takes longer (1-2 days?) to give results
The antigen test seems to be accurate and quick/inexpensive but may require medical authorization.

(7,310 posts)The lady swabbed my nose for covid and pricked my finger to see if my vaccinations from back in April had made me have antibodies.
