Lollapalooza kicked off at Chicago's Grant Park on Thursday. Organizers are expecting 110,000 people a day for the four-day music festival – the biggest event since the city reopened.

That is a lot of attendees. Hopefully most are from Chicago area and not spreading to other states.

Lollapalooza is requiring vaccines or a negative test. Those restrictions are far from perfect, of course, especially with a crowd that large. But Sturgis is in a whole different category.

i saw a dad being interviewed (on tv--i wasn't there)
he has the vaccine but he brought his 11 yr old son with him. he thought the kid would be admitted with just a face mask but nope. they told dad the kid needed a neg. covid test.
there were several set ups outside the concert area that were doing rapid covid testing so the dad was standing around, waiting for the test results & talked to the reporter

And when they are moving thru 100,000 a day the minimum wage ticket scanners are not going to look that close.

In accordance with City of Chicago requirements, full COVID-19 vaccination or negative COVID-19 test results will be required to attend Lollapalooza 2021.

For patrons who are not fully vaccinated, a negative COVID-19 test result must be obtained within 72 hours (3 days) of attending Lollapalooza. If you are planning on attending the festival for 4 days you will need to get tested again and bring new proof of a negative COVID-19 test.

Comply with the Lollapalooza Fan Health Pledge
Each day, Bring a printed copy of your Vaccine Card, Vaccine Record, or Negative COVID-19 test
Bring your Festival Wristband
If you are unvaccinated, wear a mask throughout your time onsite.

Delta spreads quite easily at mass gatherings, even if majority is vaccinated, as MA outbreak showed.

But I will only be in meetings in hotels near the airport, mostly with people from out of town, and all of whom will be vaxxed and wearing masks. Of the city itself, I will see exactly zero.

Normal, vaccinated people can resume their normal lives. We're ok.

Mayor Lightfoot and Chicago are/were in debt millions after/during the shutdown. She borrowed monies against future sales of recreational marijuana to pay bills.

Many politicians are under the strain to bring in revenue, difficult choices to be made.
