Rep. Madison Cawthorn tried to board an airplane with a gun! ! ! ! !

ASHEVILLE - U.S. House member Madison Cawthorn had his gun taken by airport police and will likely face a federal fine and loss of a special security status, local and federal officials said.

The Republican congressman representing Western North Carolina's 11th District was attempting to board a plane Feb. 13 when Transportation Security Administration workers found an unloaded gun in his carry-on bag, along with a loaded magazine, according to Asheville Regional Airport officials.

I am so sick of the privileged attitude these GQP congress members have.

We make laws or don't because they do not have to follow anything that DOESN'T benefit them personally.

Here is a simple example that irritates me to no end. Gym Jordan prancing around congress and TV interviews like he is still coaching wrestling. Blue shirt, yellow tie, no suit coat. Show some damn respect for the institution. The fact that he doesn't speaks volumes about the way he behaves.

He FAILED his team member in his previous life, and he fails his constituents and fellow Congress members in this life.

Rep. Madison Cawthorn tried to carry a gun onto a flight at NC airport in February

David Wheeler, the president of FireMadison.com, said his group received a tip about the incident and filed public information requests to obtain the audio, which was posted on their website along with other documents about the incident. The News & Observer and Charlotte Observer have also obtained the documents and audio.

“If you and I did that, we’d be detained. We’d be questioned. The gun would be secured. A report would be written. We certainly wouldn’t make our flight,” Wheeler said in a phone interview Friday.

The only gun-related item that can be in carryon luggage is a permit (valid).

The simple present tense is one of several forms of present tense in English. It is used to describe habits, unchanging situations, general truths, and fixed arrangements.

If no Democrat had ever done it, we could say that it is a uniquely Republican problem. That is not the case. File that one under "general truth."

It's not like Republicans do it all the time either. I can think of better issues with which to stoke a hate-fest.

The law calls for a fine and/or imprisonment. He should get both.
You or I would have been arrested on the spot.
You can transport a gun as long as you have a valid permit for all the states you are visiting, and lock the gun in a hard sided case that is checked and stored in the plane's luggage bay.
Same goes for ammunition.
Attempting to carrying both onto a plane is a very serious offense.

He took immediate aim at Cawthorn, saying he was running to stop the first-term Henderson County congressman and pointing to accusations by women of inappropriate sexual advances by Cawthorn and his speech at the Washington rally directly preceding the Capitol storming.

"I’m running because Western North Carolina deserves better," Remillard said. "We deserve leaders that will uphold the Constitution and make our lives better, not someone who would incite insurrection and prey on women."

The announcement makes Remillard the second declared candidate in a race expected to draw immense attention and money.

Buncombe County Commissioner Jasmine Beach-Ferrara, a nationally known LGBTQ advocate announced her candidacy March 4 and said her campaign drew $100,000 in donations in the first 24 hours.
