Most of the reading I do is non-fiction but I read The Pelican Brief (John Grisham) years ago and the book was excellent.

Police of the 1950's.. and maybe now... Thugs with guns on the side of the law running rampant. Their bosses had a hard time keeping them in line. The theme thru the movie was
"blame it on the blacks, nobody cares if they get killed in the process"..uff..
