I think she was dirty. Her increases in performance were never seen before, and they happened so late in her career.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florence_Griffith_Joyner#Allegations_of_performance-enhancing_drug_use

Before the 1988 track and field season, her best time in the 100-meter sprint was 10.96 seconds (set in 1987). In 1988, she improved that by 0.47 seconds.

Her best before 1988 at 200-meters was 21.96 seconds (also set in 1987). In 1988, she improved that by 0.62 seconds to 21.34 seconds, another time that has not been approached.

After the 1988 Olympics Griffith-Joyner retired from competitive track and field, just before the introduction of mandatory random drug testing in 1989.

The international doping committee has marijuana on the banned list.
It is supposed to help with pain and recovery, which is why the NFLPA wants it off their banned list.

Like it or not, the rule is clearly stated and all world class athletes know the rule.

It is typical of Americans that we have decided cannabis is acceptable so the rest of the world needs to give in and give us what we want, the ugly American is back.

Sat Jul 31, 2021, 10:27 AM

And it’s only legal in 18 states for recreational use.

And it’s legal for med use in:
Argentina, Australia, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Lebanon, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malawi, Malta, the Netherlands, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Rwanda, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, San Marino, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Thailand, the United Kingdom, Uruguay, Vanuatu, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

This is not really an ugly American scenario, though I’m sure we could find other examples…

also based on racial discrimination. In the late 30's morality cop Harry Anslinger thought it was a good way to persecute blacks and Mexicans because he felt both minorities used weed a lot. Nixon amped it up because he felt it was a good way to persecute hippies and war protesters and college students that didn't want to get drafted and die in a stupid senseless tragic war we ended up losing anyway..

Stupid, destructive and unfair law that's taken perhaps 70 years to unwind, although there may still be a few socially retarded states that still jail people for weed?

My father told me that back in the day Coca-Cola was referred to as dope, and he had a friend who had chronic pain in his jaw who drank it for relief.
