Why I am vaxxed and never stopped masking.

Because I can be an asymptomatic carrier.
Because whether you are vaxxed or not the kids under 12 aren't eligible yet.
Because some eligible kids aren't getting vaxxed because their parents are idiots. (why should the kid pay?)
Because I know people who legitimately can't vax at all or have compromised immunity.
Because if I make you an asymptomatic carrier too, who will you make sick that might die?

I don't wear this damn thing for me. I wear it for you and the people you love.
Even if I'm the only one in the whole store. I don't care.

I WILL do my part. And if one more "karen" or "chad" tries to bully me into taking this off one more time, they are going to get an ear full.

It is only a matter of time before some redneck gets in my face about it. When he or she does, I intend to make a scene that would make a hungry, pissy, tired two year old proud.

The office has summoned us back for the last three weeks, but if the way things are trending continues, we might be back to partial lockdown status. I work with two attorneys who each have youngsters at home, and I'd hate to be the vector for the disease into their families.

Thursday morning my cubicle mate came in sporting a band-aid on her left upper arm. She noticed me noticing the band-aid, and told me that she'd gotten her first Moderna shot Wednesday evening. Since I didn't immediately assail her and scream "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!" in her face, I believe I'm going straight to Heaven. Instead, I told her I was glad she'd gotten the shot, and be sure to follow up on the second shot. I've been pondering what to say, if anything, to the firm's management about having people sit in such close proximity to one another when one of us wasn't vaccinated.

Nobody in my slightly bluer area has challenged me. . .yet. Could be because, as people have told me over the decades, I give off a serious "do NOT f*** with me" vibe. Or, perhaps these days, because of my oak staff.

I too never stopped going anywhere indoors, unmasked. But I always felt if anyone tries to ask me why I'm masked, I'm just going to say that i'm immunocompromised even though I'm not (knock on wood!). But I think I have a better response...."How the f*#k does it bother you if I'm wearing a mask??!!"

That 2nd response would make me so much happier!

With one exception, in the last 17 months I literally haven’t been anywhere that didn’t involve a medical provider, or a vaccination, so masks were required. I would have worn them anyway, but still.

Ended the mask guidance for the vaccinated. Turns out. In Florida, you would think that 100% of the population was vaccinated. The folks speaking up on DU we’re right all along. CDC loses credibility with this flip flopping. Should have maintained it all along.

I also agree with OP. My primary worry is not catching COVID myself but that I catch it asymptotic and spread it to family and friends. This is why I still choose to wear the mask in public even though I’m fully vaccinated even when CDC revised the guidance the first time.

I too am fully vaccinated, but I read everything I can on this bug, and go nowhere without wearing a mask especially entering and leaving my 10 unit apartment building where I have not seen ONE mask on the tenants or visitors.

I'm 70 and not in the best of health which I can credit my 50 years of excessive drinking and smoking.

I appreciate and support those who mask up, especially if they mask up even when fully vaccinated.

Good on you.

I'm not going to needlessly wear two sets of seat belts because some unsafe driver doesn't want to wear even one

Seriously people let's think about this

If you wear two sets of seat belt that's not going to help you in a car crash and won't help the unsafe driver who won't wear one seatbelt either.

Matter of fact not giving the unsafe driver some negative consequence for not wearing the seatbelt is enabling them.
