Just came back from Costco where 2 weeks ago maybe 10% of the people wore masks now almost a 100%. No mandate just common people using common sense.
Most people just don't want to get sick and get others sick. The maskholes and the doomsters are a true minority. Only loud on social media. But in reality both groups are a tiny part of real Americans who are simply going about their lives.

(15,088 posts)Im near you in western PA. The Giant Eagle had almost no one wearing masks. I felt very conspicuous wearing my N95, but I know probably half these people arent vaccinated.

(1,969 posts)They are still giving out samples. And it is an area with homeowners not renters so the money is flowing like water.
Still I was pleasantly surprised at the noticeable increase of mask usage.

(12,620 posts)where I live, but I live in a mega-senior community, where almost all are vaxxed and have been pretty good about masking until this week. Maybe that will change again with all the negative news.

(7,595 posts)From the toll road to Hillsdale, I stopped at 3 different gas stations. No public restrooms in any of them. I had to do my business behind a gas station.
TFG signs all over the place. My hometown is about 40 minutes from there, same thing with the signs. I drove through a village called Pioneer and was thinking to myself perhaps some of these Hillsdaler's should have purchased house paint instead of TFG oversized flags.
I had also stopped at a Dollar General and only one person besides me was actually wearing a mask even though there was a sign stating that masks were required inside.
I hope that heck that I never have to go back there.

(7,595 posts)I liked going to the Hillsdale County Fair as a kid. I always looked forward to it.
Now, as an adult recognizing indoctrinated residents, it's a scary area to visit.

(36,745 posts)Not with a virus with same infection rate as chickenpox.
May slow it a little bit, but not much.
Only a two dose mRNA vaccine and masking will reduce the infection rate significantly.

(1,969 posts)When vir u s numbers are high and the CDC is recommending indoor masks people wear masks. When numbers have come down and the CDC doesn't require masks people don't wear them.
Covid isn't just a virus it is an IQ test. Most people just don't want to get sick or get anyone else sick. Most people even in Florida will do the right thing without being asked.
There is nothing villainous nor virtuous in wearing a mask. It is simply a tool to help prevent illness in a time of pandemic

(1,761 posts)90% masks at publix, aldi and wholefoods
