Especially if there are any holdovers that have put barriers in the way of things.

(58,785 posts)We have the vaccines to limit both, and delta has already started vaccination rates shooting up again, 70% now have had at least 1 shot.
I'm proud of us (Democrats!) for having the will and our nation for being able to to enact the moratorium in the first place. But it has to end at some point, and it was thought this summer would be a responsible time.
Has that really changed? I don't know. I do wonder, though, specifically because our Democratic caucuses haven't yet moved to create another extension. Maybe shaking loose the giant fortunes of federal aid that states were supposed to disperse to people in trouble is our next step, assisted by the renewed media attention that only ending the moratorium would generate.
Notably, that last has already begun.

(7,408 posts)is that in most cases the landlord alone can't apply for it, the non-paying tenant has to apply for the rental assistance or they both have to submit the application, depends on the state.
A friend of mine had a woman quit paying for 6 months in one of his rental properties. He couldn't request assistance because she would not cooperate with applying for it. Turns out she still had her same job and income, so she wasn't eligible for any assistance regardless, she just decided to stop paying and take advantage of the situation. She moved out recently and he said he isn't even going to rent the place out again until all this is sorted out.

(7,408 posts)Even if it got struck down eventually it still would have bought people a few more months.
I actually agree with the court rulings that the CDC did not have the authority to stop evictions.
