Lord knows the repubs hate the dems.
I find myself hating Dump, Gaetz, Gym Jordan and a host of others and I try not to to.
Am i too wraped up in politics?
Am I becoming my enemy/opponents?

(30,613 posts)Sometimes things have to be done to save the world. I'm not advocating shooting Reptilians, but I feel no guilt at all for wanting the worst of them locked up forever.

(2,343 posts)Hate is important when directed at people who deserve it. I don't love racists. I don't love murderous far right politicians and their enablers either. All should be placed in solitary confinement for the remainder of their lives with no human contact ever again. Fuck em.

Sometimes you gotta feel what you feel.
However, fight for liberals.

(90 posts)I do believe that it is wrong to hate anyone or anything; however, I find myself doing that all of the time. I am not happy with myself and I haven't been able to overcome it but I try to reset every day and think about something good and happy. I really think that half of the people on this planet -- the conservative (religious?) half -- have so much hate emanating from them that they are the cause of all of the hate in the world. I believe that the earth would be a paradise if it wasn't for them.
I do try at least a little bit to turn off the news so that it is not running through my brain and corrupting my thoughts by making me so angry. I even turn off msnbc (who I love) because they report on the crazy right wingers and then I am thinking about the crazy haters and becoming angry inside.
I think the best thing for me is to be outside and walk or sit in the sunshine whenever possible and maybe read.

(3,699 posts)Hate happens in the human condition.
Like all emotions, hate comes and goes; and like all emotions, one can become addicted to it.
Perhaps free will exists in transcending any binding, limiting or self-injuring notions.
What to do?
I can recognize that my worlds are overarching orderly-systems; indeed science is based upon this reality.
My lesser being may be provoked by opposition, and frustration often births anger, but I do not need to identify with that anger.
I can let it go in a bit of ritual release.
"OK, it is all beyond me, my actions are necessary but insufficient to remove opposition"
"Nonetheless, things happen within the congruent orders of the universe and bad things do occur."
"I can't manifest karmic-justice but I can stand aside and watch it happen."
"I do not wish revenge upon anyone. I just want to be there to see it."

(1,761 posts)I think it is important to process and dismiss hatred as soon as possible. That emotion harms you physically and blocks positive and healing energies. That said, as difficult as it is, having compassion for those who perform such acts is a true challenge and I fail sometimes. I feel that this education is why we are here. Thank you...

(3,699 posts)To achieve success in compassion one need only have 100% compassion for one's own self-predicaments; honesty and acceptance of our own omissions and commissions.

(7,848 posts)once you accept that there are monsters among us and the toxicity of their very existence is calamitous to you, your family, friends, and the planet, it's ok, and, in fact quite liberating to wish them dead...face it, when the orange dung heap was whisked to the hospital after having contracted covid, how many of us pleaded with our personal god to end that depraved sociopath's life?...I know I did as did my children and grandchildren...so take a little piece of that loathing, tuck it away in your mind and find comfort in the knowledge that what was done to us as a nation, the near destruction of our democracy, the overt hate of "the other", the 600,000 lives needlessly lost, is/was so horrendously unforgivable that anything other than hate is inexplicable...

(32,757 posts)They will get their due. Unfortunately it will drag many of us along with them..but as a species we can only
Ignore the laws of physics and nature
Act with depravity towards others
Harm the children- allowing them to be subjected to a plague among other things before the agent of darkness comes calling.
I do feel elements of hate welling up at times, but I try not to let it overwhelm me and remember what is in store for them..they brought this on themselves. The self loathing they must feel as they draw their last for what they did..that will be payment enough..at least in my book

(18,122 posts)and I'm ashamed of myself.
Interestingly, there was a study that showed that most Republicans think of Democrats as enemies of America, while most Democrats think of Republicans as political opponents.
Rustyeye77
(2,736 posts)Repubs really hate the dems and justify anything they do on that basis.
Its hard not to hate back when they base their actions on that hate.
I too am sometimes ashamed of myself.

(6,582 posts)IMO, hatred is like a hot coal in my hand.
I can hang onto it and wait for the other person to get burned.
OR I can let it go and move on.
I choose the latter.

(2,736 posts)I know its hard not to hate...and I fight it frequently .
But there are evil actions by evil people that you cant control yourself.
Sometimes , like someone said, you have to feel what you feel.
Thanks to all.
