Transgender YouTuber Chris Chan, 39, was identified as female by police and will be housed with women despite being biologically male, after she was arrested for raping her mother.

The vlogger and artist, who goes by Christine Weston Chandler, was arrested after leaked phone calls allegedly revealed her admitting to raping her mother, 79, who suffers from dementia.

Chandler is being held in Central Virginia Regional Jail alongside 59 other detainees. She was jailed without bail on suspicion of incest, a felony punishable by up to 12 years in prison.

Chandler is biologically male but came out as a transgender woman at the end of 2014.

Typical that they focus on the transgender aspect, which really has no relevance to the crime.

1. Well it does have relevance to her ending up with the female population

Which is, of course, as it should be ... but is not always the case, so is notable in that regard.

Strange to me she's in jail for incest instead of rape ... honestly I'm not even sure the former should be a crime (with adults of course), but obviously the latter should.

2. There's more to this

I knew who she was before this. It wasn't within a positive context. A large chunk of the trans community won't even accept her as trans because she has openly admitted to transitioning with the purpose of having sex with lesbians. (Yes, really). Super crazy problematic and maladjusted person who's been around for years. So this story has a lot of people going, "That sounds about right."

So, this story is going to get that treatment. And that's why the fact she's being placed in detention with other women is actually part of the story getting highlighted. A sexual predator of women being detained with other women. It's not great.

And of course the Mail is going to eat a story like this up.
