For the last month I'd seen very few but went into Walgreens today and literally everyone was wearing one. That was only like 5 other customers I saw (which is why I go to this store, it's very rarely crowded), but all in masks. And employees are all back in them for the past 2 weeks or so.

(33,643 posts)I kinda assume every (white person) is Mormon here unless proven otherwise.
I will say a fair number of them DO seem to have some respect for science, and apparently a desire to ... you know ... LIVE?
And the number of Trump lovers is lower than one might suppose given what a hard-core religion it is. They won't vote for Democrats but they're generally not big fans of IQ45 either.

(32,078 posts)Last week, you could count the number of masked customers in the grocery stores on one hand, and only about 20% of the employees. I went to Kroger yesterday. Pretty much the entire employee staff was masked, and at least 40% of the customers were, as well. Cases here are skyrocketing worse than in AZ.

(512 posts)I just spent 3 days in Chandler visiting my sister this week and I was shocked. I saw maybe 2 employees and a few customers at Bashas wearing masks. The maskless definitely outnumbered the masked. In Mesa unfortunately even less masked. In Tucson, a completely different picture. Masks everywhere! Thank you Tucsonians! Lets hope the rest of the state gets back to masks in public indoor settings!!

(33,643 posts)But still this is different from how it was even just Monday when I was at the same store. Monday was like 0 of 7, and today was 5 of 5.
I think also a smaller drug store w/a pharmacy is more likely to prompt masks than, say, Walmart.
One logically assumes Pharmacy = possible sick people. And narrower aisles and lower ceilings means closer proximity.
Of course, that's me using science-y stuff in my thinking.

(12,611 posts)today. A few weeks ago it was 100% masked because there was a sign. Now sign is down.

(11,004 posts)I'm seeing majority masked again - not 100%, but probably 75-85% at CVS, Albertsons, Target and WalMart.

(1,166 posts)(In fact, I was thinking of posting it until I saw your post.)
For the past few months, I've had to travel down to Phoenix once a week. And I always go to Costco and Trader Joe's when I'm down there, because . . . why not?
Last week (and all of the weeks before), virtually no one at Costco, other than myself, was wearing a mask. In fact, a couple of weeks before that I'd gone to either the Cave Creek or the Northern Phoenix Costco (I can't recall which off the top of my head) and not only was no one besides myself masked, but management had actually removed the plexiglass barriers at the checkers' stands. And the week before that, I was at my usual Costco, and, again, I was the only person in the entire store who was wearing a mask. I actually got into a verbal contretemps with the guy behind me in line because he (and the rest of his smooth-brained family) kept standing right next to me and wouldn't move back when I asked for 6' of distance.
But yesterday a good 80% of people in the store were masked! I was astounded; I haven't seen that level of masking since Costco was mandating it. Maybe some of what's going on is finally getting through to people. (Although this is Arizona, so I'm still skeptical.)
