In the legal profession the letter e in email stands for evidence. This email chain is evidence that challenges the narrative outlined by one of Cuomos accusers.
This is why we have a judicial system where people have a right to defend themselves.
Cuomo may very well be guilty of harassment, but there is evidence we have yet to hear.

(718 posts)With this murky garbage being tossed up against the wall. However, we witnessed a president incite an insurrection on national television and right now his greatest worry is when his daily tee time is.
I really believe Cuomo is being framed with his professional credibility in danger but this is another day of freedom for the real criminal, Donald Trump.

(57,757 posts)Except that the defenders insist those who have been showed to be guilty by an extensive investigation should face no consequences. Such excuses are a transparent canard. They reveal more about the people making them than Cuomo.

(718 posts)Im just attempting to make the point that its shameful to dig in to remove a governor, who just happens to have been a presidential
contender, when a former president incited an insurrection in real time on TV and has not been charged. Not to mention his involvement in fraud, and attempts to illegally influence election officials. This juxtaposition is telling, to say the least. I want to hear Cuomos defense, I want to know more about those who accuse him after having been scorned. I want to know why no one charged him before now. After all, predators dont just wake up that way. This behavior develops over a life time. Plus, why are you so confident that the investigation is legiimate. Was it an investigation with a desired result already in mind?

(31,261 posts)Much of it attempts to cast aspersions on one or two of his accusers. Yet there is something like 13 accusers and some of the patterns of his conduct were repetitive woman to woman.
I can see a guy who is accused by one or two women mounting a defense, some women do lie about sexual harassment and even rape. But if both women are saying the exact same thing about the guy and the women have no connection to each other, then that is a lot of smoke against the guy and there has to be fire somewhere, IMO.

(42,033 posts)That should serve as a lesson. It may very well be that Cuomo is guilty of all the things he is accused of or some of the things he is accused of. I'm willing to hear what everyone has to say.

(5,633 posts)She's not a disinterested party, certainly not on the personal level.
That being said, Cuomo is a creep that needs to go; but I'm sick of all this intra-party competitiveness preventing real stuff from being done.

(96,882 posts)The Cuomo team has certainly suggested it, but I've seen no actual evidence.
She may very well choose to run in an open contest, but accusing the Attorney General of what amounts to political corruption is uncalled for.

(42,033 posts)I am pointing out some issues with the investigation.
I am also pointing out that people have the right to a defense.
He may very well be a terrible person and guilty of sexual harassment.
I feel the need to dial back some comments I made in other threads. I want to hear all the evidence before I condemn him.

(24,906 posts)we ever heard about the allegations. Just like Al Franken.
Even those who think he is guilty of a crime should welcome criminal charges and a trial. I could be wrong, but if he resigns, there will be no charges or trial.

(9,212 posts)In his lawyers statement the testimony of 2 accusers has been brought into question. One apparently said she left the mansion directly after the alleged incident but emails and communications with others inside the mansion proved that she stayed for quite a while. None of this evidence was searched for by the ag apparently. If the testimony was given under oath, lying about that is a crime. It would also not hold up in a court I believe.
As I said in another post an investigation is not a court. The ag is apparently going to run for governor now. She has it seems run a far less than perfect investigation at the least and she has a conflict of interest as well.

(4,677 posts)At this point, any calls for more evidence are Republican-style attempts to move the goalposts and make "guilty beyond any reasonable doubt" the new bare minimum threshold for opening any discussion of leaving office.
Cuomo's entitled to try and create a reasonable doubt in jurors' minds during a criminal trial. That doesn't mean he's entitled to hold elected office and drag the NY Democratic party into a pit.
