Well, Sturgis is starting out well

?s=20

omg, just watched a news report from Sturgis. Reporter asks if they're worried about covid there. Man standing in a group says "Nah, my wife's got it right now. She stayed home."
I really wish the camera hadn't cut away from his friends at that moment.

?s=20

Sturgis starts today. Up to 700,000 expected to attend.

?s=20

WATCH: Sturgis biker bursts out coughing as he tells CNN why he won’t get the COVID vaccine

During an interview with reporter Adrienne Broaddus, one attendee at this year's rally said "hell no" when asked if he was going to get the vaccine.

He then falsely asserted that the vaccine would "make you sterile and kill your ass."

The man then said that he won't trust the vaccine because it hasn't yet been fully approved by the FDA -- and then went into a coughing fit.

If I was a reporter i wouldn't want to be anywhere near this mess.

Study suggests rally led to over 260,000 COVID-19 cases

A California research group set out to estimate the impact of a single COVID-19 “super-spreader” event – and in the case of the Sturgis Rally, the impact was large.

The study, released by the Center for Health Economics and Policy Studies at San Diego State University, estimates that 266,796 COVID-19 cases across the country in the month following the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally can be traced back to the event, which took place from Aug. 7-16. That figure is 19% of the 1.4 million COVID-19 cases between Aug. 2 and Sept. 2.

The researchers used cellphone data to identify areas that saw a large number of rally-goers and tracked cases both before and after the event, the Argus Leader reported.

- Snip -

South Dakota state epidemiologist Josh Clayton was critical of the study, noting it is not yet peer-reviewed.

was just pointing out that there is a basis for the OPs post that you responded to. The CDC has been known to be wrong however, and different methodologies can produce varying results.

To me the bottom line is that the Sturgis/MAGA mentality is responsible for far too many unnecessary COVID infections regardless of the case count.

And were willing to admit so.

From your own link:

The estimate of cases is the equivalent of 140 per 100,000 attendees. The study pointed out that is likely an underestimate because anyone with no symptoms or a mild COVID case may not have gotten tested.

And he's worried about the vaccine sterilizing him? He's pretty much sterilized himself, looking like a crusty old leper (all apologies to crusty old lepers everywhere), and any woman agreeing to sleep with him would probably be sterile herself.

It's amazing what the human brain can fantasize about though, and I'm sure a few weeks from now, while he's being intubated in an ICU somewhere, he can regale the nurses with his tales of Sturgis sexual prowess.

Is that a lot of activity is going to happen outdoors, as you might guess with 700,000 visitors to a town with a population of 7,000. That's the relatively good news about this. The bad news, of course, is that these folks aren't going to be practicing hygiene safety very assiduously. One infected individual, if particularly gregarious, could infect dozens all by himself. And each of those dozens will pass the infection along to others.

Other than angering us Librulz.

The bikers did this last year, and it wasn't the giant spreader event it was purported to be. The event is OUTDOORS, mostly.

They won't stop the event, the attendees delight in trolling the press and anyone who might caution them, and they appear to be fatalists, regardless.

The toothpaste is out of the tube; it's not going back in.
