She is very old. Her mental state is questionable. The Governor may be recalled.

YOU are NOT the one who decides. All the voters in California decide, and up to now the majority of us in California has decided she is a good Senator for our state

(1,263 posts)Sen. Feinstein undercut the Democratic candidate in SC Jaime Harrison by praising Graham. Then the infamous maskless hug.
JohnSJ
(92,454 posts)well in SC, and expanded Democrats vision of what is possible in deep red states
He ran a campaign on massive registration of African Americans, but also tried to attract white voters who ha become disillusioned by Graham, by exploiting Grahams flip-flopping, along with the fact that grahams friendship with trump did little to benefit the state
Unfortunately the pandemic forced Harrison to pause his aggressive voter-registration effort, where he planned to tour across every county in SC, where he moved online where rural residents lack adequate internet speeds.
Republicans had no qualms about in-person campaigning, along with the partisan lean of the state along with trumps popularity there.
Harrisons loss had nothing to do with Feinstein. It was an uphill battle from the start, and he did extraordinarily well under the circumstances
Stacy Abrams demonstrated how it could be done, and Harrison almost did it
The populace in SC could give a rats ass what a liberal Senator from California did

I didnt see anyone questioning if Nina Turner was was all together when she compared Biden to a bowl of s**t, and then blame her loss on outside money, when Turner raised significantly more money from the outside

It isnt a straw man question. It is up to us who live in California.
Should Sanders, Leahy and other older Democrats not run in the next election? No one seems to be concerned with those situations. I wonder if they even know her voting record
Have you received your informational voting pamphlet?
I received mine today
The postage paid mail in ballot should give us an advantage
I have been doing call banking for Newsom since last weekend
I think the recall will be defeated
This is the third recall attempt against Newsom, and it only succeeded this time because a jackass judge extended the time to gather signatures by three months
msfiddlestix
(7,286 posts)checked the site a few hours ago. I'm planning a trip and on'e be back before election day, so i really need my ballot soon.
I'm NERVOUS about this recall. In fact you could say I'm scared shitless this is going to go south on us. Dems were the majority of registered voters when Gray got recalled. you do remember that right?
For California, the problem has always been about turnout. ESPECIALL on the off year elections and special elections.
Every freakin time it goes bad for us.
I can't remember when it ever went the way it should have, HAD every registered Dem VOTED.
They don't. that's why we lose when we do.
JohnSJ
(92,454 posts)I was not referring to the actual ballot, that will be in about two weeks
I was referring to the voter information guide
Turn out has a different meaning because of the mail in ballot postage paid
As I said I am doing call banking along with others throughout California to motivate people to vote

(7,286 posts)As a Californian, I would very much like the United States Senate to be a Democratic Majority.
And the DEMOCRATIC Party definitely NEEDS TWO DEMOCRATIC SENATORS in the UNITED STATES SENATE.
I can't believe the response here. where the hell am I, FOX LAND?

insane as it may seem. I'm worried about apathy resulting in low turnout.
I don't have my voter info booklet yet, but i have read the list of names who tossed their hat in on this race. I think I recall paging through 3 pages of list of names. it was jaw dropping.

(24,334 posts)Our state legislature needs to pass a law like they have in some states that any governor making a Congressional appointment must choose someone of the same party as the person who vacated that office. Problem solved, and it's a very fair law.
I might add that I believe as long as Feinstein has a pulse, she will not resign.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)I suspect that as long as Feinstein is still generally sharp and feels she has much to offer, and has very highly qualified assistants to remind her of any slipped details, she won't resign, or need to.
Also that as long as she is in office she will draw far more criticism -- harsh, hostile criticism -- than the contemporaneous crop of elderly male senators put together. It takes a lot more than a century to change attitudes implanted over millennia.

(13,059 posts)She has severed a long time. Let her serve out her term. That's the least we owe her.
JohnSJ
(92,454 posts)Feinstein will die under the new Governor., and then a Republican would replace her
That could happen to a number of Senators, Leahy, Sanders, etc. with republican governors, but it is Feinstein who concerns them
The people in California will make that decision
I received my recall information ballot today, and have been phone banking for Newsom
I dont think the recall will be successful
Every registered voter will be sent a mail in ballot with a postage paid stamp, and California insures all votes are counted. There are 45% registered Democrats and 20 some percent republicans, and the majority of no party preference, lean progressive
The odds are that the the recall will lose

msfiddlestix
(7,286 posts)because they forgot about and it put it to the side, and waited too late to fill it out and mail it in time.
And that was a Presidential Election of huge consequences. Election? What Election? Didn't we just have one?
Lot's of these people in my complex. Seniors, mostly women. Getting by. Certainly knew when Gov. Newsom sent $600 to us, and stimulus funds for SNAP since the shutdown began last year. Oh yeah, but it when comes to voting, meh.
I'm pounding on their doors reminding them the election is coming, "oh yeah, will get it done"
I didn't believe Gray could get recalled. When he lost, I was devastated. I will never believe in polls again in this State.
It's the actual TURNOUT.

(92,454 posts)shortage with blackouts
The Davis ballot was a mess. There were hundreds of secondary candidates, and too many Democrats were fooled to vote for Arnold, because he wasnt far right and a celebrity
That isnt the case this time, and the leading republican and libertarian candidates are far right
I think there are a lot of nervous Democrats and progressives, and that will be a motivating factor

JohnSJ
(92,454 posts)Mr.Bill
(24,334 posts)but the republican party in California has been dying. There are no republicans holding statewide office and the Democrats hold supermajorities in both houses of the legislature. Even with a republican governor, they could pass legislation and over-ride any veto.

(92,454 posts)they don't vote, or worse vote for the recall, they are worse than idiots, they would be self-destructive abusers, who would be inflicting a lot of pain on a lot of people
If that happens, which I don't think it will, I hope our super majority in the legislature would be able to prevent any draconian actions
