While much of the press is reporting that republicans won't raise the debt ceiling, leaving

Democrats holding the bag.

What isn't being reported is that the Democrats don't need to republicans to raise the debt ceiling. They can use reconciliation to raise the debt ceiling, and in addition can effectively raise the debt ceiling by an amount so high that a breach won't happen into the future, and for all practical purposes, abolishing the debt ceiling.

Let's make it about red state COVID stupidity and only raise it through 2024, like how it got suspended during TFG 's term.

It's what needs to be done, anyway, and use every nasty procedural process McConnell has used over the years to get it done.

Especially in the so-called “right-wing media.” Of which there frankly shouldn’t be any.

You shouldn’t be allowed to have your own facts. Especially when those “facts” are anything but.

And now we have entire networks and other media devoted to pushing and reinforcing fantasy over facts. And as long as we have that misinformation feed that serves, reinforces, reaffirms, and reassures the so-called “great unwashed,” seems to me we’re pretty well fucked.

The raising of the debt ceiling is both inevitable and purely political theatre.
