This is Republican Texas Rep. Travis Clardy.
He tested positive for Covid 10 days ago and is still symptomatic.
But today he showed up to vote at the Texas Capitol just so Republicans can try to break quorum and pass their voter suppression bill.
What's the incubation time for Covid again??

"Texas GOP Leader Who Promoted Mask-Burning Dies Of Virus Just Days After Mocking It
H. Scott Apley, a member of the Galveston County Republican Party, died of Covid-19 on Wednesday, August 4. He was 45 years old.
Apley's death symbolizes yet another life lost to the consequences of disinformation about the virus; he died just a few days after uploading a Facebook post in which he shared a screenshot of a Twitter post mocking Covid-19.

(16,437 posts)Obviously one of those so-called "crisis pregnancy centers" that masquerades as a health care facility, gives out all sorts of false information about the "dangers" of abortion, and basically tries to scare young women out of getting one. I hate those things with the fire of 1,000 suns.
He sounds delightful.

(38,004 posts)The numbers were not there Monday when the House met at 4 p.m. One hundred members are needed to hold a vote.
You know, we are taking this a couple of days at a time here, and what I can tell you is that our House Democratic Caucus continues to oppose these anti-voter bills with everything that we have, caucus chairman Rep. Chris Turner (D-Arlington) said...
He exposed all of those people. Legislators, staff, security, their families.

(4,437 posts)1. Since Texas Legislature now has documented exposure, no employee can be forced into attendance within that workplace. Federal OSHA general duty clause preempts state law.

Dear Mr. Racic:
Thank you for your September 26 and November 10, 2003 facsimiles to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA's) Directorate of Enforcement Programs requesting an interpretation of OSHA's General Duty Clause.
Your letters make reference to a July 23, 2003 letter sent by Ms. Peggy Zweber, Area Director of OSHA's Peoria Area Office, wherein she provided an interpretation of OSHA's General Duty Clause. As we stated to you on September 5, 2003, we support the statements made by Ms. Zweber. As Ms. Zweber stated, Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (the "General Duty Clause" requires an employer to furnish to its employees:
"employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees..."
Employers can be cited for violation of the General Duty Clause if a recognized serious hazard exists in their workplace and the employer does not take reasonable steps to prevent or abate the hazard. The General Duty Clause is used only where there is no standard that applies to the particular hazard. The following elements are necessary to prove a violation of the General Duty Clause:
The employer failed to keep the workplace free of a hazard to which employees of that employer were exposed;
The hazard was recognized;
The hazard was causing or was likely to cause death orserious physical harm; and
There was a feasible and useful method to correct the hazard.
Thank you for your interest in occupational safety and health. We hope you find this information helpful. OSHA requirements are set by statute, standards, and regulations. Our interpretation letters explain this requirement and how they apply to particular circumstances, but they cannot create additional employer obligations. This letter constitutes OSHA's interpretation of the requirement discussed. Note that our enforcement guidance may be affected by changes to OSHA rules. Also, from time to time we update our guidance in response to new information. To keep apprised of such developments, you can consult OSHA's website at http://www.osha.gov. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact the Office of General Industry Enforcement at (202) 693-1850.
Sincerely,
Richard E. Fairfax, Director
Directorate of Enforcement Programs

(29,213 posts)under the presumed "Stand Your Ground" laws in Texas?
I mean he is clearly a danger to others by knowing that he has a potentially deadly disease and not taking steps to protect anyone.
If he walked into the chamber firing a gun at random locations... they would be justified in taking him out...
"Your honor, I was in fear for my life..." seems like an appropriate defense
