Do border policies affect COVID infection rates in US?

PHOENIX (AP) — As the delta variant fuels an increase of COVID-19 cases in the U.S., some of President Joe Biden’s critics blame the surge on his border policies, which allow some migrants to enter the country to apply for asylum.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis last week accused Biden of “helping to facilitate” the spread of the coronavirus. Fox News host Sean Hannity referred to migrants causing “the biggest super-spreader event” and incorrectly asserted that none was being tested.

But public health experts say arriving migrants are not driving the rising infections in the U.S. The main culprits are people who refuse to get vaccinated. Furthermore, migrants who are allowed to enter are generally tested for COVID-19 and given hotel rooms to quarantine if they test positive, though federal authorities have not made data available about such cases.

3. I attended my nieces baby shower this weekend. It was in the town park and

it was announced for folks to try to keep their distance apart. Our side of family are all vaccinated but my nieces family??

So, I was dubious about attending and my niece was on and off about cancelling it.

But it went on. Somehow I got in conversation about the virus. I had made a short comment that it is hitting the UNvaccinated

in Florida, Alabama LA texas ect and wondered if it would travel North once it got a bit chilly.

All of a sudden this woman--found out later it was an Aunt on the other side of the family---said rather sharply:

Of course it will--look at the open border and the infected aliens coming in.

my jaw just dropped. It could have been tucker Carlson talking !! A few folks looked uncomfortable with the outburst. I really did not want to make a scene on my niece's happy day, so I just walked away and avoided her the rest of afternoon.

Shower was cut short --thanks the gods cause big clouds rolled in and lightening started.

Had it not been a happy day for my niece, I would not have bitten by tongue.

9. Administration needs to release exactly what the data & protocols are for those testing positive

There must be some Covid positive migrants crossing the border. The word that is troublesome in the OP is "generally tested for Covid 19"

What percentage are tested, how many are positive, when are they tested, mask rules, how are they isolated from others, and how the quarantine is managed? Are those quarantined in hotels prevented from leaving their rooms and if so, how are they fed etc.?

We need to shut down the non sensical RW smears. Anything less will just feed the rumor mill, and the longer they wait, it will be hard to change the public perception even if not factual.
