Sean Hannity: People Who Are Living Paycheck to Paycheck Just Need to Work Harder

Things cost much more these days then they did back in the 1980’s or 1990’s. As prices have inflated, though, salaries haven’t. In 2018, the Pew Research Center found that for most workers, real wages have been stagnant for decades.

The GOP has played a big role in this. Republicans have been fighting a minimum wage increase for years. And as a result, many people are working paycheck to paycheck. Sean Hannity gave these people a solution during his Monday radio show. According to the Fox host, they just need to work harder.

Hannity told listeners, “Nothing is free. What is the false promise of socialism? That every — that every fear you have, everything in life that’s been — the normal stresses of life, not the — and look, survival can be an everyday stress in life. It can be, I’ve been there living paycheck to paycheck. It’s not the greatest feeling, but you can survive it if you’re willing to work hard.”

The Fox host continued, “And then if you — you know, then you got to find ways that you work extra hard and put some money away, and then the more money you’re able to accumulate, that becomes freedom for you, so then you can make other decisions, and maybe follow other dreams that you have down the line in the pipeline.”

It usually happens after downsizing the workforce to save money.
Same overall workload, less people to do it. It's a very common method of taking advantage of workers.

Working smarter requires the company enable you to do so. Doesn't happen all that often.

a town hall meeting where a black woman was telling Dubya (the shrub) about having to work multiple jobs to make ends meet. His response was to applaud her for her hard work, no empathy for her plight.

Working multiple jobs is a great way not being the best parent possible, being stressed and tired most of the time leading to an early death.

Republican mindsets really are devoid of _____ fill-in-the-blank.

Of course, those aren’t real jobs to them anyways. When they say, “get a job,” they mean “I consider you to be beneath me, and you are not worthy of surviving.”

Someone making minimum wage will very likely never be able to “follow their dreams.” Their kids won’t either.

Conservativism tries to make believe that the US is stuck in the 1950’s, but it’s an idealized 1950’s where everyone had the same opportunity, there’s no racism, and that the middle class is vibrant and easy to enter. There are no factories anymore, and minimum wage means that you can barely survive now, with food prices increasing. Try getting an education when you have to work 2 jobs to survive, and then support your family with what’s left of your paycheck (minus rent, food, taxes, utilities, car payments / repairs, medication).

I’m tired of people who started 50 feet from the finish line lecturing others about how lazy they are. If the first step to being rich in your life was being born, stay silent, and maybe stop being a selfish, miserable asshole that thinks they are a superior human.

The majority of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck....

From Business Insider:

54% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. And nearly 40% of high earners — those making more than $100,000 annually — said they live that way.

Hannity is speaking to the same affluent, middle class white folks who stormed the Capitol.
