I will not subscribe to the NYT. These assholes ran so many Hillary Email stories that it was sickening. Here is another reason why I hate the NYT

Trump ran a criminal enterprise out of the White House, which everyone at the Times understood, and still the paper could not summon the courage to call for his resignation. Yet the Times sprinted into action in order to insist a Democrat step down? The contrast is stunning even if you agree, as so many Democrats do, that Cuomo should leave office.
What explains the radically different standards the Times uses for announcing sitting Republican and Democratic office holders are no longer fit to serve? How does the Times, after refusing to weigh in on Trumps fitness for office for four years, announce Cuomo must resign less than a day after the results of the New York investigation was announced?

(9,105 posts)No, it isn't. There is always a double standard, and that is how we are where we are with a fascist wannabe dictator who is worshipped by the right.
There really is.
They will never call for a white Republican man to step down from anything.
They could have shut him down, but he was/is good for ratings.

Several women told Vox about their experiences with the star reporter, and the Times has suspended him pending an investigation.
Sexual harassment claims against yet another powerful man in media inspired New York Times White House correspondent Glenn Thrush to post an impassioned note on his Facebook page in October, calling on his fellow journalists to stand by women entering the field.
In the post, which linked to an article about the latest accusations against political journalist Mark Halperin, Thrush wrote, Young people who come into a newsroom deserve to be taught our trade, given our support and enlisted in our calling not betrayed by little men who believe they are bigger than the mission.
It was a noble statement but some Washington journalists I spoke to say it rings hollow, given Thrushs own behavior with young women in the industry.
He kept saying hes an advocate for women and women journalists, a 23-year-old woman told me, recounting an incident with Thrush from this past June. Thats how he presented himself to me. He tried to make himself seem like an ally and a mentor. She paused. Kind of ironic now.

(5,164 posts)Or any paper. They also became less and less credible quite a while ago after a plagiarism scandal. I have forgotten all of the details now. They have many good articles but too many that are problematic and there is a clear agenda imo on some issues. Some of their health advisory articles are questionable to say the least, they often have inaccurate information. In the past 25 years or so, really prolly more the media overall has dumbed itself down a great deal, mostly with sensationalism it seems.
I agree on your specific post as well.

(1,495 posts)They should have demanded that Trump resign every day he was president. It might be a good day to cancel.

(19,999 posts)NYT--TFG's hometown rag--had to know much of his corrupt history that made him unfit for any public office. I believe they had a moral/ethical "duty to warn" but for some reason didn't.
