One of the Walmart Supercenters in our town has closed this afternoon for cleaning

and sanitation.

The Walmart Supercenter on Rogers Avenue in Fort Smith will be closed from 2 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, for cleaning and sanitization, according to a news release sent by Ashley Nolan, company spokesperson.

"As you know, several areas across the country have begun seeing a renewed increase in positive COVID-19 cases, mainly in regions with low vaccination rates, and we want to assist health officials working against the pandemic," Nolan said.

The Home Office evaluates criteria related to its stores and the surrounding communities.

"When that data reaches certain thresholds, we make the decision to get ahead of the situation and proactively close the store for cleaning and sanitizing," Nolan said.

A covid outbreak.

I just can't see Walmart randomly closing for cleaning in the afternoon when they are supposedly doing it every evening.

I wonder if the other Supercenters in the area will do the same.

I just bumped up my Walmart pickup order for in the morning. I had decided to go ahead and get it in and drive over today, but all slots are full. I wonder if the place is slammed with word of this happening? I'm in Idaho and cases are spiking was why I was building up again, but this makes it more urgent.
