Kathy Hochul press conference

The incoming NYS governor had a press conference a little while ago. However, the discussion of her political views
just before she came on was interesting. According to NY1 Hochul has an A rating from the NRA and
is a strong opponent of giving undocumented workers drivers licenses.

https://www.wnypapers.com/news/article/current/2012/10/03/108013/hochul-endorsed-by-national-rifle-association

The National Rifle Association's Political Victory Fund has endorsed Kathy Hochul in her race against Republican Chris Collins in New York's 27th Congressional District. Hochul is one of only two New York Democrats to earn the endorsement of the Second Amendment advocacy group.

"I am honored to receive the endorsement of the National Rifle Association, an organization that represents thousands of Western New York sportsmen," Hochul said. "As a county clerk, I was a staunch advocate for sportsmen, and I have carried through on my commitment to protect their rights in Congress."

Per the Drivers license issue, https://buffalonews.com/news/illegals-applying-for-licenses-risk-being-arrested-erie-niagara-county-clerks-develop-plan-to-counter/article_07963d87-d405-5400-a159-316bcc13c008.html

Hochul said giving illegal immigrants a license "gives them cover" in this country by providing them a valuable form of identification. She said her plan to both permit the Spitzer program to be implemented, yet have illegal immigrants arrested if they apply in one of her offices, covers the "dual responsibility" she has to carry out both state and federal laws.

"It will be a deterrent, and that's what I'm looking for," Hochul said of the chilling effect it will have on license applications by illegal immigrants.

Some additional info from Buffalo News:

Jagow and Erie County Clerk Kathleen C. Hochul have been in discussions with local police officials to determine what procedures will be used -- and whether federal or local law enforcement agencies will be notified -- if an illegal immigrant seeks to apply for a driver's license.

The effect, the two county clerks said, will be to discourage such individuals from seeking licenses in the two jurisdictions.

So she changed her views to get her Lt. Governor spot? Politicians make these kinds of compromises all the time.

But she'll be the boss soon and not someone else's number 2.

Notice how a lot of Republican operatives are now openly saying Cuomo should leave office immediately.

You know they sound a lot like posters found throughout social media over the past few months.

That will be New Yorkers chance to voice their opinion on who will take office in 2023.

I am confident it will be a Democrat.
