Doctor says anti-mask crowd was 'uncontrollable' at school board meeting

https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/anti-mask-crowd-uncontrollable-tenn-school-board-meeting-florida-texas-schools-mask-mandates-181606106.html

A special session on mask usage held by Tennessee’s Williamson County Board of Education dissolved into chaos as doctors who spoke about the importance of masks in schools were heckled during the meeting and hounded in the parking lot afterward. Video went viral on Twitter of the scene in the parking lot, with one man threatening a driver with, “We know who you are. You can leave freely, but we will find you.”

Dr. Meredith C. Duke, an assistant professor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center who has three children in the school district, tells Yahoo Life that she tried to speak at the meeting “but didn’t get the opportunity.”

Duke says that each speaker was given a minute to talk, whether they were a parent or a medical professional. “There was a loud anti-mask crowd that was uncontrollable,” she says. “Some people got thrown out for interrupting and shouting.”

Duke says that one of the school board members would use a timer to make sure everyone had a minute to speak, but the anti-mask crowd “would start yelling and screaming, ‘Time! Time!’ when it got near the end. They even did this to one of the infectious disease specialists from Vanderbilt.”

I am beginning to think the masks are simply an excuse to express an inner rage, an anger at life and the world, anger at not being in control.

These are the same people, I believe, who filp others off on the road, who cause scenes at checkout lines….people who need to speak to the manager over trivial inconveniences. Some may be people who have processing issues that cause the world to be a confusing place to live. They are certainly people who have no peace in their inner lives.

There was a news report yesterday, I can’t remember where it was, about a parent who confronted the school principal and then beat up a teacher after he saw his child leaving school in a mask. This is not normal.

As you say, for some it is an excuse to act out, rage and bully others.
Act superior, demean and threaten other people.

They are not in control, maybe some are afraid, deep down.

At any rate it is a sign of societal breakdown.

A large group of Americans are acting out in aggressive ways.
Irresponsible, self-centered, totally irrational behavior.

The problem is due to deeply embedded dangerously-wrong self-identity.

The problem is individuals who do not identify with society (others).

The problem is centered in confused, sickened, unhappy selves; frustrated tantrum throwing inner-children

The problem is the self that is not centered and thus is assailed from all sides including from within.

Th solution is to be centered in the true self that exists before and after difficulties, before and after knowledge, before and after happy or sad moments.

The sickness exists in identifying with the transient and changeable, the costumes and labels and desires that can be changed.
Being nasty, mean, miserable is a choice.

Had a similar incident 20 years ago, though, so it might not necessarily be a new phenomenon.
