this is a terrible thing to say about us, but the American people didn't care about the Kurds

and what happened to them when trump let the Turkish military march into northern Syria.

What are the chances Americans would feel any differently about what is happening in Afghanistan?

That they will even remember it 6 months from now?

My guess would be that when asked their opinion of the Kurds, 90% of Americans would say "The who?" Dial H For Hero Aug 2021 #4

...especially not the women whose "liberation" and "empowerment" we trumpeted as a great achievement of the freedom America was dedicated to promoting worldwide, and who now will be forced back into a "Handmaid Tale" hell, or worse, as we wash our hands of the whole situation.

I guess between the lines I'm saying I know the GOP doesn't give a damn for real, they just want to make political hay out of a difficult decision.

We never were educated on who what or where we sent our best and why. Even Viet Nam.. I never knew where that country was or way we had to go fight them except..communist we’re taking over. We send our best..do they even know the culture, history or why or do they just obey orders? Seems like my parents’ generation had a better idea of why, what and the end goal was. Not anymore.

you open up that sucker, and you're stuck in history, geography, and all kinds of effed up things, some having nothing to do with the other, but you don't figure that out. The maps, the names, the quest for accurate sources. It's a fool's errand. When you finally give up, you don't have much more of a handle on the region than you had before...just more exacerbated and more depressed.

who cared about the Kurds. We had to sit and watch while the Orange Turd wheeled and dealed with that Turkish ahole. I think in this case, we were in Afghanistan a long time, it didn't get better, and Biden had to deal with whatever the Orange Turd did there. I feel positively awful about what's going to happen to the women and gays in Afghanistan. We could have obliterated the enemy forces and it wouldn't have changed. A third world backward country is just that. No civilized country will want to deal with them.

As far as winding things up, we can defend ourselves if we choose to shoot. I don't look at it like a defeat. Biden is making hard decisions. I don't think he is making them in a vacuum. But, I read that the embassy was going to allegedly remain open, with whom I don't know, and I think that is a mistake. Take absolutely everyone away. Anyone staying behind will die. And shoot any bastard who thinks he is chasing the Americans away. Keep them back until we fly away.

Did no one envision this very scenario happening again? That's the thing that I don't get. They could have deployed to cover the evacuation before they rolled up on them. Gawd, there's no let up.
