If anything the fall of Afghanistan will show it was a mistake to be there

I think the majority of Americans will see this as a failure, but not Biden's. They will see that if the Afghan government could not stand against the Taliban for one month without us, then what we have been doing for 20 years was a failure, and we needed to leave sooner rather than later.

Long enough for contractors and military to bleed the American taxpayer of $$$$$$.

We poured trillions into a hole and all those people lost their lives, and twenty years later we're leaving it in the hands of the same assholes who were in charge to begin with. The evacuation of the Americans could have been handled better, but I'm just glad to see us get the fuck out of there! In the end, Biden will get credit for ending that fruitless war, and I think many will be grateful.

But this needs to be hammered and hammered hard by Democrats. Enough so that no more Republican idiots think 9-11 happened on Obama’s watch.

But Dems need to show the facts. Now. Loud and long. Drown out the Republican spin doctors.

It will be tempting to blame Biden for all the disastrous repercussions of yet another misguided foreign war. One cannot logically argue America's intervention in Afghanistan was wrong from the very beginning, while at the same time attacking Biden for the many terrible scenes unfolding before our eyes.

The first law of holes is "if you find yourself in a hole, stop digging." Digging a hole always makes it deeper, and harder to get out of when you finally realize you're in an untenable position. President Biden should be applauded for having the courage to do what has been needed for years, and taking the politically difficult decision to stop making the situation worse.

Unlike others before him, Biden understands the grim reality of this decision, and is prepared to accept the inevitable criticism. That's called leadership.
