(29,509 posts)I don't have any idea who these two posters are, and have never attacked them in any way. I only watch TV in the evening and on weekends, so have no idea what the OP means.

(29,509 posts)Please tell me how you know I ahve been hiding under a rock?
Is that about Afghanistan? January 6? Did Trump do something? Is this about Rick Scott wanted to invoke the 25th Amendment against Biden? About another shooting? About having RWNJ on as "experts"? Did Bobert do something? Or Gaetz?
How in teh world can anyone know what the OP is talking about without at least two or three words? And, if it is about Afghanistan, what? Biden bashing? The Taliban declaring Sharia Law? What?

(106,582 posts)No, not sharing another's feelings about CNN is not "hiding under a rock". The posts saying context is needed have indeed been helpful - they've got the OP to admit what they're writing about. Yours, on the other hand, has helped no-one.
It was quite possible that the OP could have been about something that had just happened on CNN. Rather than the thread starter's opinion about their coverage over a few days.

(4,392 posts)Dont worry about all the people complaining about context. These are the same people always complaining on here. Everyone should know and understand your post based on everything that has happened over the past couple days.

Bad CNN.

(22,996 posts)Basically, Biden should had known every fact, planned every maneuver, anticipated every timeline or size or limit on any detail of the army at every stage of the withdrawal.
Basically if he can't read every person's mind in any place at any time, "he's to blame." it's a hit job.
Going for ratings. They know viewers left faux, and they're throwing them red meat.

(292 posts)There's no easy exit or red carpet retreat, I am frustrated by how so many are shocked about a collapse that was years in the making, I hate to see what's going on its shit all over but some one has to say enough is enough, it's too bad the media is throwing salt on the wounds

(5,633 posts)The fact that we're trying to push all of this into a 96 hour evacuation, with our forces surrounded at an airport is simply poor planning and poor leadership. We've left behind all kinds of sensitive equipment at American bases, not Afghan Army, but American stuff. All of that will surely find its way to our Russian and Chinese adversaries.
The Taliban control who has access to the airport. We're essentially asking people to sneak through Taliban military checkpoints, pray they can get through the American bureaucracy, and then hope beyond hope they can get on a plane. All of that seems like a giant risk.
If there are indeed 50k interpreters, or 5k, or 10k, that helped us that we've essentially abandon, that's on Biden.
In short, we could have and should have done all this months ago. In reality, Trump should have started it at the end of his Presidency, so he does bear some blame, but I expected better of Biden.
lindysalsagal
(22,996 posts)I'm thinking that if they had started leaving, it would have started this panic, and then we would not be ready to safeguard the airport. We did empty the consulate. At least this is happening with some planning and equipment preparation.
No matter when people started leaving, it would have started the rush and panic. You can't move hundreds of interpreters without people figuring it out.
Bagdad was easier: We built the air force base, and it wasn't a real city with real civilians.
Calista241
(5,633 posts)So let's just leave it all until the last minute, let all those people depending on us die anyway, and we get the opportunity to look like shit on the evening news for a few months. Spectacular plan.
We had the perfect place for this evacuation also. Bagram airbase was in the middle of nowhere, it was controlled by the US Military. We could staff thousands of troops there indefinitely while the evacuation proceeded. Easy to secure with multiple runways. We could have flown helicopters in and out of there for months to get people out of the country, and nobody could have done shit about it.

Deep breaths.

(4,093 posts)That everything went off without a hitch? That Biden, as sitting President, deserves no criticism and, better yet, deserves praise for a smooth withdrawal? Would you like this in glowing, giddy praise over footage of people falling from landing gear to their deaths and the Taliban rounding up underage brides?
DU has been quite vocal about FOXNews and its subservience to Trump.
Is that what you want from CNN, et al.? State-run media that treats the administration as infallible?
