Free Regeneron treatments start Tuesday at Jacksonville library for high-risk COVID-19 patients

https://www.jacksonville.com/story/news/coronavirus/2021/08/16/florida-starts-free-regeneron-treatment-jacksonvilles-main-library/8160241002/

The main library in downtown Jacksonville became a site Tuesday for free Regeneron treatments that inject monoclonal antibodies into people infected by the COVID-19 virus before they come down with serious symptoms that can lead to hospitalization and death.

The library site will have more than 300 spots available daily for people to get the treatment seven days a week, according to a tweet by Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The treatments do not require appointments but people can register in advance at patientportalfl.com. Patients also can walk up and get registered on-site. Registration takes about 15 minutes.

Also, they're passing out the experimental Regeneron like candy, but they won't take the "experimental" vaccine that has had minimal reactions among the millions who have taken it.

These people really need to speed up their self-culling.

lying facedown on a filthy public library rug moaning and groaning in agony, while exposing others, is way preferable to spending 20 minutes getting a vaccine.

an injection, and as you noted, I question how sterile the environment is

I wonder if that is a violation of public health standards, yet alone have infected people contaminating others and the facility

An infusion isn't that much different than blood donation, in terms of risk (aside from a reaction to the drug), and blood drives are held in high school gymnasiums, libraries, trailers, etc.

and without the vaccine they will need to be treated every 4-6 months.

shithole got his shots (probably two within 3 weeks of each other) even after the Regeneron treatment.

Also, I think they still will be spreaders, that's why mask are important.

The adults will still infect the children.

at least that is the currrent understanding.

The disease, on its own, generally resolves in far less than a month (absent a severe disease). I can't imagine that for disease treatment it would extend either the disease or the contagious period.

The emergency use authorization is for a single 600 mg dose as post-exposure prophylaxis against severe disease.

There is some exploration of using it as a preventative medication in the future, but it is not approved (even under the emergency use) for pre-exposure prophylaxis. As a preventative, 4-6 months would be a long period between doses. 2 months is more standard for -mab infusions. The documentation from the company suggesting pre-exposure prophylaxis suggests monthly infusions - which are not yet approved)

A table of medical supplies stands ready for use in the rapid response unit set up last Thursday in Jacksonville for providing moncolonal treatments such as Regeneron for COVID-19 infections. The treatments will move Tuesday into a conference room at the main library in downtown.
