(13,369 posts)Is that considered an immunocoprimised
Situation. I hear alot of things on the news that point to diabetics being able to get the 3rd shot. Is it true or not?
Because if I can get it soon I'll get it done.

(14,971 posts)From CDC on immunocompromised :
Currently, CDC is recommending that moderately to severely immunocompromised people receive an additional dose. This includes people who have:
Been receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood
Received an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
Received a stem cell transplant within the last 2 years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)
Advanced or untreated HIV infection
Active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress your immune response
People should talk to their healthcare provider about their medical condition, and whether getting an additional dose is appropriate for them
From the Miami Herald: But the blurry guidance has left many Americans with other high-risk health conditions hanging, such as the 122 million with prediabetes and diabetes. Meanwhile the agency says people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes are more likely to get severely sick from COVID-19.
A CDC spokesperson told McClatchy News in an email that people with diabetes who also have one of its listed immunocompromising conditions should consider getting an additional dose. The agency did not explain why people with diabetes are not yet eligible to receive a third dose.

I'd call your pharmacy or make an appointment for a shot ,show up and they'll probably give it to you.

(71,894 posts)I was waiting to VA to call me up, but while at the local health/pharmacy put my name into the internet machine with my VA number, it told her to hit me up. They don't carry the Pfizer, but told her she wouldn't have qualified.
We went to the Walgreens and they told her that they were only giving it to the immunocompromised, but at CVS they felt that her being my caretaker qualified us.
At the Walgreens was a line of mostly younger folks coming in for their first shot.
I wanted to yell, "what took so long?????" But refrained. I'm glad their teeny tiny little heads are getting the message.

(11,849 posts)I had my third Moderna on Tuesday, and this one really packed a punch. I sat down on the couch on Tuesday night to watch TV and didn't wake up until Thursday at 3:30 a.m. with lights and TV still on and no food or meds in my belly. Spent Thursday in a cold sweat, but finally feel mobile today, just in time to prepare for a direct hit by Henri over the weekend.
I signed up online for my appointment after reading an article containing a CVS link which would determine eligibility. It seemed as though the only real restriction was that of timeframe - as long as I was 5 months from the second shot, I was good to go. When I got to CVS, I verified that this would be considered the booster and that I could get the shot even though not immunocompromised. No problem. They said CVS decided since there was enough vaccine available, they would start boosters now, rather than waiting until September.
NOTE: As I just checked to get the link, I see that their website is now stating September start unless immunocompromised. My CVS wasn't being stringent about this.

(13,369 posts)But how do I get one
I have conditions that make the risk worse.
I'm already vaxxed with my two shots of Moderna.
Can you walk into a walmart pharmacy and get it done yet?
What did you do and where did you go to get it done?

(11,849 posts)Here's the link to sign up for CVS booster. I believe most of their stores are using Moderna.

No panic, no rush at present. You can get ahead of the crowd!
Good luck!
ETA: Just an FYI - You don't need to have all your shots done in the same location, but they should all be of the same type. Don't mix the brands - If you start with Moderna, stay with Moderna.
