CA Gov recall: which Dem alternative?

In the California Governor recall election voters have two choices. One is a yes or no question: Should Gavin Newsome be recalled. I’m voting no, of course. But voters can also vote for a replacement candidate no matter how they vote on the first question.

The California Democratic Party urges Dems to vote “No” on the question of recall. But in an incredible act of hubris, they have not put forward or endorsed a Democratic alternative candidate should the recall pass.

In fact, if I understand the situation correctly, they suggest that Dems select no replacement candidate, thus leaving the selection up to Republicans if the recall succeeds. How f’ing stupid is that? Go to the CA Democratic Party website to see how lame their action there is.

But that’s not the point of my post.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a reasonable Democratic replacement candidate to vote for? The apparently front runner, Kevin Paffrath, seems to be an equivocating, lightweight. But, I dunno? Is he the best we can do? I d rather have a lightweight Dem than any of the front running Republicans

Who should we rally round?

won't vote for her, but she does have a flair for exposing how imbecilic this whole travesty is.

The thinking is that last time, when the Lt Gov was put forward as a plan B, too many Dems ended up voting for the recall or just not voting on that cause they figured we would have a safe alternative. Hence the Governator. So this time the party has gone all in on Newsom or Bust, and anyone who wants a future in the party is not gonna step forward. I get it… sorta… but it’s risky. I’m 100% voting No on the recall… but I won’t cede the second question to the repugs, even if the options on the ballot aren’t great.

Of the names on the ballot, Kevin Paffrath seems to be polling the best… but no serious Dem candidates are gonna step forward with the public stance Newsom and the party are taking. I get the theory behind their decision, but it feels… risky.

And absolutely will do. But personally, not letting Repugs be the only ones with a say if things do go south.

The reason being per chance a bigger % of votes goes to someone other than the total of no votes to question one, that person could win.

At least that’s what i understand is being said

Early returns posted here, Dems % of total votes 56+% independents 20%+ and gqp 20+%

If No wins, that’s it, no matter how many votes a replacement candidate gets. If yes wins, then the highest vote winner becomes governor. So it’s stupid not to have an alternative option to rally round.

Then she asked me, "who did you pick in case it was successful?"

Me: The Porn Star.

Her: Why?

Me: One, its still better than these Republican idiots. Two, Porn Stars are the most ruthless business people you will ever meet, they know how to fuck people to get what they want.

Her: Good choice, I'll vote for her to.
