Ty Garbin admitted his role in the alleged scheme weeks after his arrest last fall. He is among six men charged in federal court but the only one to plead guilty so far. It was a key victory for prosecutors as they try to prove an astonishing plot against the others.
Garbin apologized to Whitmer, who was not in court, and her family

(16,284 posts)Look at the pictures again, at the flimsy pieces of wood and the stringy cord used to make the noose. There's no way that thing could have supported the weight of an adult. It was more like a replica of a gallows than an actual working gallows.
Did the builder(s) really think they were going to hang Mike Pence or anyone else on that thing? Who knows. Considering the mean i.q. of that mob, it's not impossible. But it was so blatantly inadequate to the task that defense attorneys could easily argue that it was just constructed for show, thereby creating "reasonable doubt" about the true intentions of its constructor(s).

(3,622 posts)The Feds don't like losing cases they prosecute. They are going for things they are sure can be proved beyond reasonable doubt with the evidence at hand so far. The kidnap guys left more clues per person and there was a CI who could solidly tie them all together (who himself got 6 years, so the rest of them are looking at a lot longer). Should that kind of evidence emerge in the Jan 6 case -- and they're looking very diligently -- you can expect more charges.
