"President Joe Biden said U.S. regulators are looking at administering Covid-19 booster shots five months after people finish their primary immunizations, moving up the expected timetable for a third shot by about three months.
Biden, who was speaking with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett on Friday, said health officials were considering following that country's lead on boosters.
"We're considering the advice you've given that we should start earlier," Biden said, adding that officials are debating whether the timeline should be shorter. "Should it be as little as five months and that's being discussed."

(2,868 posts)dragging the CDC from constantly being behind the curve. The breakthrough numbers are climbing. Whether it's a declining efficacy of the vaccines or that Delta is the Hulk, or a combo of both, we need to get on with it, and not just wait for the hospitalization and death rates to continue climbing.

(47,365 posts)Israel is giving it at 5 months. 8 months seems too long, especially for people with various health conditions.

(5,807 posts)vaccines available. I don't care for Walgreens but most grocery stores have a pharmacy. We were going to go on Wednesday as that was our 6 month date. I got pretty sick after number 2, as I have a compromised immune system. I ended up getting an outbreak of shingles the third day after the shot so the vaccine really challenged my immune system. Also ran a pretty good fever for like a week.

(47,940 posts)Did they know you were getting a booster? Do you now if another regular shot is the same as a booster?
KewlKat
(5,807 posts)are supposed to have been fully vaccinated prior to this shot. So it's boosting the first two doses.

(47,365 posts)They want you to stick with the same vaccine you already got.

(2,868 posts)Unless they decide to move that up too?
wryter2000
(47,940 posts)I hope they move it up. I guess I can wait for September 20. That's almost exactly 6 months for me. I rarely go places, and this area isn't a hot spot.

(37,852 posts)I wont lie to get one, but it is an honor system right now. So its a personal judgement call, basically.
I called mine to inquire of the status.

(37,852 posts)I would then be eligible.
