Lafayette (LA) Mayor-President Guillory in will spend Covid-19 funds on infrastructure instead

https://www.theadvertiser.com/story/news/local/2021/08/26/lafayette-mayor-josh-guillory-spend-covid-19-funds-infrastructure/5609139001/

Moments before declaring a state of emergency ahead of a potentially major hurricane, Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory defied Lafayette's city and parish councils to spend $21.6 million of COVID-19 relief funds on infrastructure.

The councils voted unanimously last week to defund Guillory's entire plan for spending Lafayette's $86 million COVID-19 relief package that came as part of the federal American Rescue Plan Act.

Guillory's proposal focused almost entirely on infrastructure and quality of life improvements and omitted any funds to offset joblessness and housing or food insecurity caused by the pandemic.

You would think that money designated for Covid related problems should be spent on Covid related issues. You would think that to do otherwise would be "against the law." You would think that the feds should be alerted to this misappropriation of funds. You would think that Guillory should be reprimanded if not prosecuted for mishandling federal money.

I'm not sure if there is any law that Republicans have to obey anymore.
