it doesn't slow down - will be a serious hit, but not a sustained one. Further the faster it moves the less time it has to slow down means less rapid intensity. If it slows down to below 10mph all bets are off

But it looks like it will slow somewhat, and it will dump about 15 inches of rain on coastal LA.

and most of its water to flow permanently in the Atchahalya River channel. Making New Orleans a bayou town.
