(6,287 posts)I would have done it yesterday but I need to create a "cheat sheet" for the judges that I want to vote for. I'm not good at remembering names, and I sure as hell don't want to vote for the wrong ones.
Conveniently, my polling place is in the building where I work.

(3,626 posts)But I have a friend who works her ass off for the Dems here. She told me that the judges on our ballot were all appointed by Democrats and, of course, if they were booted, our creepy Repig governor Voldemort and legislature would appoint Repigs to replace them. So I voted to retain. Also, my friend said to vote 'no' on each referendum. I've always found the wording on these things misleading, to be charitable, and I normally try to muddle through. But I figured, why waste my time(!) so I voted no on all of them. (Rachel had a segment on how long and confusing the Florida ballot was this year, deliberately formulated to discourage voters and to hold up lines.) I mailed mine a week ago.

(12,233 posts)and then they are off... I've been after him about this.. How hard can it be, he can sit in his chair and fill in his ballot... Doesn't even have to go into the polling place this year.. Just fill in the bubble and I'll drop them off (the mail in cost is 65 cents this year in my county since the ballot is like a book.)

(16,413 posts)We voted a few weeks ago. All dems. There wasn't a challenger for one repub office so I wroye in Snoopy [this was before the Big bird comment] I wanted to let that politician know someone in his district would prefer Snoopy over him.
On one of the questions, my spouse and I answered differently, so it will be up to our kid to break the tie.

(33 posts)Yesterday, we visited our small Southwestern New Hampshire Town Clerk's office, there we renewed our motor vehicle registration, picked up the 2013 town dump sticker as well as happily submitting our two sealed 2012 election absentee ballots !
It was a beautiful Fall New England day !

(10,833 posts)We now have no excuses needed absentee voting which almost no one knows about, but first you have to fill out a ballot request form, then mail in the actual ballot, etc. Too many things can go wrong - for instance, in my county (Bergen) the ballot to be mailed back is over one ounce and requires 65 cents postage but there is nothing on the instructions to tell people that. Luckily we have a county clerk who made a deal with the post office to deliver all the ballots even though they may have insufficient postage and then have the post office bill the county clerk.

(8,352 posts)I just mailed in my ballot.
This is the first time since coming of voting age that I have voted for a straight Democratic ticket in my state of Arizona, and the first time I have voted for a Democratic Presidential candidate ever.
For the first time ever, I did not vote in 2008 because as a then Republican, I just could not vote for Obama. I also could not vote for McCain and Palin. I may have issues with some of his policies, and I was not enamored with his Hope & Change campaign of 2008.
But I am proud to say that I just voted for four more years of President Obama.

(38,642 posts)I'm a party observer for early voting (and on election day) - that means I'm assigned to hang at the BOE (not in my county) all day on the days when things change (like extended hours). So far, I haven't had an opportunity to vote - since the during my non-work hours I've been busy observing to make sure others have a chance to vote.
I suspect it will be the weekend before the election - since I don't expect to be asked to observe all of the last 3 days.

(39,900 posts)I received a second ballot in the mail due to a single word discrepancy:
"Shall the ordinance relating to Additional City Government Meeting and Records Regulations be Adopted? The previous language on the ballot started this sentence with "Will an ordinance
".
The vote-by-mail ballot that arrived earlier this week should be discarded. If a voter has already cast their vote-by-mail ballot, they should complete the new ballot and send it to the Registrar of Voters office.
If a voter inadvertently sends the vote-by-mail ballot with the old wording, the ballot will still be counted after the system determines only one vote-by-mail ballot has been returned.
"This new and corrected ballot has been flagged by our system to ensure only one ballot per vote-by-mail voter is counted," said Deputy Registrar of Voters.

(39,900 posts)I'm getting smarter this time. I cycled two blocks west to post my first ballot and it cost me 45¢. I since learned I can drop it in a ballot box at City Hall, two blocks east east of me, for free.

(5,364 posts)Afternoon. Weather was nice but unfortunately I was in constant fear of being stung: I'm allergic to bee stings and the shrubbery lining the log sidewalk along the building ( library ) was yellowjacket heaven.
The people there said the morning crowds were worse and the wait was 4 hours.
