President Biden
@POTUS
United States government official
"The past 17 days have seen our troops execute the largest airlift in US history. They have done it with unmatched courage, professionalism, and resolve. Now, our 20-year military presence in Afghanistan has ended."

(5,727 posts)No more thousands of young men and women (and civilians) thrown into the meat grinder in order to make the Already Obscenely Wealthy even more wealthy?
No more looking at our feet and holding our tongues when we know a general is lying to us, no matter how much brass he wears or the color of his skin?
No more chickenhawks in charge, handing out no-bid contracts to fellow vicious mobsters?
No more veterans "thanked" for their service then abused by the system and dumped into the street?
Please?

(3,419 posts)We would have used the last 20 years to stop using gasoline in our vehicles and built a carbon-free economy. By de-funding our imperial army by 50%, we would have had SIX TRILLION Dollars to invest in clean alternatives
By bankrupting the oil producers in the middle east and Russia, our country would have become much stronger and more secure.
The twin towers of defense contractors and petroleum producers have sold out our children's future.
It's payback time. Redeploy the skills and resources of the defense industry into transformative energy technologies. End all subsidies to the oil industry, including the cost of the imperial army deployed to protect their far-away production partners.
Let the Saudis, Emerates, Kuwaitis, Iraqis, Iranians, and the Russians figure out a new economy that does not involve extracting and burning prehistoric carbon.
