Or did we succumb to the stuffed crust?

(10,481 posts)The pizza tastes like cardboard with moldy ass sauce on it. Besides Shaq makes everything that he promotes look so unappealing

(113,869 posts)That said, I agree with those who say it sucks so, why?

(28,493 posts)Cannot understand why anyone would get it.
Just my personal opinion. And even if they took up donating to Democratic/Progressive causes, I still wouldn't get it.

(19,306 posts)within walking distance of my apartment was a Papa Johns and a bagel place (which was closed by mid-afternoon). The area around my apartment had ridiculous traffic at evening commute time, so if the cupboard was bare and I was in a hurry for dinner I'd settle for it to avoid having to drive. Reasonably quickly I learned to keep a well-stocked pantry, and I haven't had it in the many, many years since then.

(28,493 posts)My son delivered pizza for Papa John's for a number of years. He apparently thought their pizza was quite good, which made me question my cooking for him when he was growing up. Sigh.

(36,896 posts)it's perfectly understandable why he would think their pizza is good.
if it's round (or squared--jets pizza), has cheese & sauce & it's baked kids will gladly eat it. (regardless of what pizza joint it came out of)
i think that brand indifference even extends into the thirties--as long as it is pizza it has to be good
you never had to question your cooking--it was never about your cooking

(28,493 posts)when he went to work for them.
Sigh.
I know that it was never about my cooking, but still.
Here's the most important part. He started doing pizza delivery for Papa Johns after his freshman year in college. He got his degree at the University of Tulsa, a pretty decent school. And when he graduated, immediately resumed doing pizza delivery. WTF?
Several months later he moved to another part of the country and continued doing the pizza delivery. I was dismayed that he wasn't making better use of his degree, but he knew that there was no point in asking either of his parents (we'd separated by then) for more money, because we'd tell him to get a better job or a different job or a second job, because once he'd graduated college he was on his own.
He never asked us for money, happily supported himself doing pizza delivery. And it's the happily supported himself I want to emphasize. Honestly, I was every bit as proud of my pizza delivery son as I was of my son in the PhD program in astronomy.

(36,896 posts)i think it is--but it's late and i'm really tired so i might be misunderstanding what you wrote.
and i'm curious -- did he ever get a job in the field of astronomy?

(269 posts)I will never stop boycotting that place. Every person that works at our local store is the epitome of racism.

(34,216 posts)People are saying it doesn't taste good, but it beats Little Caesars and Pizza Hut.....
Domino's pizza is horrible...
I last had it in 2017, so I don't eat it very often.....I had to bring something to a Democratic candidate event and Papa John's was on the way. The pizza was devoured.
My favorite locals are Grimaldi's and Rome's, but they aren't fast food...

(10,960 posts)Just looked and realized there isn't even one anywhere near me, so that sort of solves that.
The grocery freezer has plenty of stuffed crust if people are inclined. They taste more or less the same.
I'm currently trimming down on keto, so when I have the stuffed pizza urge, I do the most pointless, lazy thing.
Coat string cheese in almond flour. Dip in egg and then roll in almond meal. I have keto bread I could make into crumbs, but that just feels like effort. Freeze it overnight. Bake or fry it. So there you have your keto mozzarella sticks.
Usually I'll just dip it in whatever pasta sauce we have handy. If I want the PJ's garlic sauce, it's super easy to make. It's literally just butter and garlic powder. If you plan on refrigerating it or leaving it out, clarify the butter first. It keeps better because it won't separate out.
Plus it's all just way cheaper than pizza. String cheese is like $10 for 60 at Costco.

(63,221 posts)Ugh! Same with Domino's, Pizza Hut or any other corporate chain. Almost all of them are truly inedible.

I never took an interest in boycotts - they seemed ineffective. I limit my political activities to voting.

Most of the time my talented wife makes pizza from scratch. If we want pizzeria, we go with a local independent.

(42,862 posts)... we won't be buying that crap. You know... our local "store-brand" of FROZEN pizza is better than Papa John's. It's ready in 20 minutes (and that's faster, and cheaper that the crap they serve.)
