(1,666 posts)I guess because usually when I see discussions of homeschooling it involves posts talking about RWNJ keeping their kids out of liberal schools; implying homeschooling is bad because of parents being able to teach their kids how the parent wants to.

(57,073 posts)Just a sane person who believes it is crazy go cram kids into classrooms during pandemic.
Arkansas already has 8k cases among students & staff after only 3 weeks.
With an RO of 7-9, well, it is not a safe environment from my perspective.

(1,666 posts)The rush to open schools and the anti mask idiots are killing kids.
It is a tough position, as learning from a computer at home makes it harder to pay attention and learn. It lowers test scores. But that is better than dead kids.

(3,850 posts)To my local Pacifica station (KPFA-Berkeley) with a Dr. from the UC Berkeley School of Public Health. So not exactly right wing sources. His position was that kids need to be in school and that distance learning was more detrimental to children, especially young children, than COVID. He of course was promoting masks and other safety measures, but he was adamant that a second year of no inperson school would be disastrous. It's a tough situation, but I support his view 100%. Public schools are often the safest places for children to be.

I think homeschooling is a wonderful option especially when all this craziness and Covid is going on.

I have seen many, many people show negative one day just to pop positive the next. Also (and I hate to say this) you can't always be certain of the veracity or competence of a particular person doing the testing.
