Mrs. Greenspan is going to have to shift some assets around in her portfolio now that the U.S. isn't dumping money into the coffers of defense contractors for Afghanistan anymore. The gravy train isn't supposed to stop that quickly, and all the research and system-gaming that's required to dodge capital gains taxes is very stressful. One wrong move and a person could make less profit on their stocks! Sure, Mrs. Greenspan has more money than a person could spend in 10 lifetimes, but she's so conditioned to tax-avoidance that the prospect of making slightly less money on her investments is really frightening!
