A torrent of political groups representing some of the countrys most influential corporations including ExxonMobil, Pfizer, and the Walt Disney Company is laying the groundwork for a massive lobbying blitz to stop Congress from enacting significant swaths of President Bidens $3.5 trillion economic agenda.
The emerging opposition appears to be vast, spanning drug manufacturers, big banks, tech titans, major retailers and oil-and-gas giants. In recent weeks, top Washington organizations representing these and other industries have started strategizing behind the scenes, seeking to battle back key elements in Democrats proposed overhaul to federal health care, education and safety net programs.
Among the most active is the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which is in the early stages of putting together an economywide coalition to coordinate the fight against the still-forming economic package, including its significant price tag, policy scope and potential for tax increases.
The Chamber-organized effort could encompass traditional lobbying on Capitol Hill as well as advertising campaigns targeting Democratic lawmakers, according to three people familiar with the matter who requested anonymity to describe the discussions. The group has been in talks with potential allies such as the National Association of Manufacturers, whose board includes executives from firms such as Dow Inc., Exxon, Caterpillar and Johnson & Johnson, the sources said.

(2,575 posts)democracy (voting rights) and social programs are bad for capitalism's profits and monopolizing trends.
And the wall to wall negativity of withdrawing from Afghanistan was deliberate to cripple the Biden presidency, I even heard someone from one of those conservative orgs saying so on NPR a few days ago.
Problem is, they aren't exactly reaching us. Like Mitchell said, Americans approve of the ending, but not the capitalists who have enjoyed the steady 20 years of profits from the disaster.

(42,862 posts)HINT: We'd be in the minority and the GOP would be in charge. Their voting record is respectable.
you consider siding with the Rich & Corporate over working people "respectable".

(42,862 posts)Also, you've neglected to address the more important fact that with them, the GOP is NOT IN CHARGE, and McConnell is not the one calling the shots. Does that matter to you, or is it more important to give up our slim advantage because of purity reasons?
There's an interesting post below... did you see it? George II showed that Manchin and Sinema have voted with and for the Biden agenda 100% of the time.
I noticed you had not responded to it. I wasn't sure if you were avoiding it, or if you just hadn't yet seen it.
Post #13... just below... hard to miss it:

(2,868 posts)we're only NOW getting to the crux of the Biden agenda, and they're supporting the anti-worker, anti-consumer corporate agenda, and bad-mouthing the 'for the people agenda'.

Very weak, very vague, very dumb ad.
